The Hopeless Romantic

I have no hope of finding true love.

I yearn and pine for it from the depth of my soul.

Large cratered pits, they sit, my bosom heavy, heart decrepit.

I have no hope of finding true love.

My body is small but large in all the wrong places,

My eyes are almond but averted are my gazes,

I have scars, freckles, stretch marks, aplenty,

But beauty marks are as scarce as they come.

I have no hope of finding true love.

Yet, I realise, I have a kind heart,

I have a dimpled smile and sparkling eyes,

Although I'm ugly to the world around me, I am a creature sweet.

So perhaps, no man will want me, and I will turn no heads,

Perhaps Prince Charming isn't coming after all,

And the Toad I kiss, won't turn into a handsome Prince,

And the shoe I leave left unreturned,

And no man shall ardently profess their undying heart to me.

I may have no hope of finding true love,

Because True Love doesn't need to be found, it was always here.

Because no matter who may want me or not want me,

I will always want me.
