Untouchable

  "I'm sorry, but without a quirk? No, you cannot become a hero without power."

  Izuku fell to his knees, barely acknowledging that the shrivelled hero had left the rooftop, all of the callous words spoken to him in the past echoing in his mind.

  Sorry kid, it's not going to happen.

  I'm sorry Izuku, I'm so sorry!

  You can read it as Deku, someone who can't do anything!

Hey, Deku! Looking extra useless this morning!

  Take a swan dive off the roof and pray for a quirk in your next life.

  "Do it."

  Izuku's head shot up from where he had been staring at the rooftop, darting from left to right searching for who had spoken.

  "Do it." They said again, their voice clearer this time.

  "H-Hello?" Izuku asked.

  "Jump you useless Deku, show them all just how useless you really are."

  "W-who are you??" Izuku asked the voice that sounded suspiciously like his own.

  "Oh but you've already figured it out! Come on Deku, I thought you were supposed to be smart!"

  "B-be quiet! I-I'm not afraid of.. me..?"

  "Oh but you are..." The voice crooned. "You're so very afraid little Deku. There's an easy way to fix that though..."

  Izuku shook his head.

  "No!"

  "Jump!"

  "Never! I couldn't do that to mum! I'm going to be a hero!"

  "You'll never be a hero. You're just a failure. A freak of nature that should have been aborted. You think she loves you? You think you'll ever become a hero? You're WEAK! You're POWERLESS! You're just a worthless Deku, and that's all you'll ever be. Unless..."

  Izuku's head tilted to the side.

  "Unless?"

  "We change things for the better. Think of all the poor quirkless children still out there Izuku, abused because of something they could never change... Surely you want to help them..?"

  "Of course! I'll become a hero that saves everyone!"

  "No. Tear down the current hero system. Remake the world into a utopia, with you at its head. Think of all the good we could achieve ruling over everyone. YOU decide who is free and who is punished for existing. YOU decide what is right and what is wrong. Become a Hero in the eyes of the next society..."

  Izuku clutched at his own head, shaking it furiously.

  "No! That would make us a villain! No better than the people we are meant to defeat! How many people would have to suffer to get your perfect world??"

  "Can't make an omelette without KILLING a few nay-sayers."

  "That's wrong. You can't-"

  All for One had heard enough. All Might had crushed this child's dreams, normally a perfect situation to recruit a loyal ally, yet part of this child was resisting the pull of All for One's brainwashing quirk. Had he developed a second personality as a defense mechanism? How fascinating! But he only had need of the twisted mind rather than the steadfast heroic one. Perhaps a splitting quirk refined with a few enhancers and a focuser? It was worth a try...

  Izuku was cut off as the worst agony he had ever felt split his mind in two. It was like someone had taken a saw and was trying to cut him in half lengthways. He couldn't even scream, only an agonised gargle escaping his throat..s?

  Izuku stared wide eyed at the perfect replica of himself sitting opposite him.

  Deku stared back, his hostile green eyes narrowed as they scanned Izuku.

  "A quirk..." Deku said, speaking slowly. "Someone knew we were arguing with ourselves and decided to split us apart... But to what end?"

  Both greenettes got to their feet, warily watching one another whilst keeping an eye on their surroundings.

  "Well." Deku began again, speaking deliberately, no trace of a stutter in sight. "I suppose this solves our little dispute..."

  "Y-You're going to become a v-villain..." Izuku finally spoke.

  Deku shrugged.

  "Not really. Not to the next system's standards anyway. Besides, we both know we're untouchable." He said, a slow smile spreading across his face. It looked.. unnatural. Completely different to Izuku's usual small smiles.

  "J-Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should!"

  Deku's smirk widened.

  "And what could you possibly do to stop me?" A crazed look entered his eye. "If you want to prevent me from reaching my goal, you'll have to kill me!"

  With that, the villain to be left through the very same door All Might had left through previously.

  Deku walked with his hands in his pockets towards the seedier part of Musutafu.

  "I'll tear down this rotten hero system, with my bare hands if I have to!"

  Izuku walked along the pavement, his apartment building coming into sight.

  "I will become the first quirkless hero, and save everyone from you with a smile!"

  All for One stepped out of the alleyway, the green haired boy before him coming to a stop.

  "Greetings young one. I have a proposal for you..."
