Evanora had put her veil back on as she and Chris walked around outside. It had been raining again earlier, but had since stopped. It was wet and cool outside, but Chris and Evanora were still able to walk around the rest of the compount without much issue.

He showed her where some of the other vampires resided, and what some of the other buildings on the compound were. He explained the roles that the other vampires had, and how the community was able to keep itself a float by them all working together. Chris also discussed how his compound communicated with other vampire settlements around the world, how their government worked, and basically just how they tended to function as a whole.

All in all, it was actually quite interesting, and Evanora was intrigued to learn about vampire law and government, and what her role as queen would look like as a result. However, there were still several questions that she had on her mind.

"Alright, I have to ask," Evanora says to Chris, "You eat...people."

"That's not a question."

"Well how do...I mean..." Evanora sighs, "I guess I'm not sure what to ask."

"I know what you're getting at," Chris says, "We try to take a 'Robin Hood' approach to our meals."

"How do you mean?"

"We won't kill or turn just anyone. We kill and completely consume only adults, and these are adults who have committed heinous crimes such as abuse or murder. Now that we have the Internet, we're much more easily able to find people who are just getting out of prison, on the sex-offender registry, and so-on."

Evanora nods, "Okay...I guess that makes sense."

"As far as turning humans into vampires, we don't take this lightly. We typically only turn those who are sick and dying and need help."

"Like in Twilight?"

Chris throws his head back and sighs, as if he one hundred percent knew that Evanora was going to suggest this, but he was already so annoyed. Evanora simply smirked, enjoying the fact that she was getting a rise out of him.

Like old times.

"Yes. Like Twilight," Chris says, shortly, "Although, we were doing it long before Stephanie Meyer came up with it."

"Well, what happens if a vampire kills someone completely innocent, or for no reason at all?"

"Imprisonment for a thousand years for killing an adult," Chris says, "And for a child?...Death by public execution."

"But I've seen vampire children."

"Not everyone follows the rules," Chris says, "Yes, there are...unfortunately...children who get turned. But we view this as inhumane and unfair. Getting turned into a vampire is a horrible, painful process that no child should have to endure. Not to mention it completely strips away their chance at being able to live a normal, human life. Therefore, we capture and kill whoever turned the child."

"What happens to the child?"

"For lack of better words, they're adopted into a family. They still age until they reach adulthood, but it's a much slower process. Once they're grown, they stop aging and are immortal like the rest of us."

"How many children are here?"

"Here, on this compound, there are four. It's very rare to find vampire children because of the laws we have surrounding it, but you may find a very small handful in some larger vampire civilizations. On smaller compounds though, you're not likely to find many. I try to check in with their families on our compound regularly to see how they're doing. You'll meet them at some point."
