Fundy was in the kitchen, making sandwiches for now and later. He knew Yogurt liked them. Yogurt, he is supposed to be home by now. Fundy told him only a few hours exploring today. He sighed as he finished up the last of the sandwiches. The sound of a door opening could be heard and Fundy perked up, knowing Yogurt was home. But there were two sets of footsteps. Did he bring over a friend?
"Yogurt!" Fundy said, making his way to the living room where the front door opened into. "Did you bring over a friend?-" Fundy looked at Yogurt and the much taller companion who stood beside Yogurt. Dream smiled at Fundy while Fundy looked at him confused. "Who are you?"
"You don't recognize me, Fundy? I'm hurt." Dream joked, walking over to Fundy a little. "You know he really is Wilbur's grandson, a little thief."
"Wh- how do you know my name? And how did you know he was-" Dream cut Fundy off.
"You're really slow, aren't you?" Dream chuckled. "Dream. I needed a place to stay and your son here gave me a kind offer I couldn't refuse." They watched Fundy panic, backing up and his ears going down.
"You can't stay here! I'll tell Sam you're here- I'll-" He took out his COMM in a panic, turning away from Dream and starting to type. Dream gave a huff of annoyance and walked over to Fundy, snatching the COMM out of his hands. Dream pinned Fundy's shoulder to the wall with his left hand, slightly fiddling with the fox's COMM in his right hand.
"You won't be doing shit, Fundy." He gave Fundy a glare, while Fundy just looked back at him, worry and fear evident in his eyes. He knew better than to try and pry the hand off of his shoulder. "So here's what we're going to do," Dream pocketed the COMM. "You're going to let me stay here for a bit, just until the heat dies down. You nor Yogurt are going to leave. Maybe I'll teach Yogurt a thing or two, he seems interested in what I do." When Dream mentioned Yogurt Fundy got the courage to shove Dream's hand off and push himself off of the wall and onto Dream, making them both fall to the ground.
"Don't you dare fuck with my kid, Dream!-" He was cut off by Dream flipping them both and pinning Fundy to the floor this time.
"Bad move." Dream stared down at Fundy, who was trying to squirm out of Dream's grip. "Now I'm not going to let you go until you understand what I said." Fundy wiggled a little before giving up.
"Fine, fine! Just let me go - I can't breathe." It was a little bit exaggerated, it was a little hard for Fundy to breathe, but he wasn't getting choked. Dream go off of him and dusted himself off without a word. Fundy got up hastily and walked to the kitchen, where Yogurt was eating a sandwich. Fundy sighed in relief and walked over to him, picking him up. Fundy was about to walk away until Dream stood in his way. Fundy looked at him, ears going back again and his grip tightened on Yogurt.
"Got a question, Fundy." Fundy didn't respond. "Do you know Quackity's little country, Las Nevadas?" Fundy turned his head and nodded slightly. "How do you know about it?"
"I work there." The fox responded in a quiet voice, having now known he doesn't have any upper hand in this situation.
"Really? Wow. Would've expected you to make another L'Manburg or something. Or did you guys figure out that it was useless?" Fundy shook his head and shoved past Dream, quickly walking to his room. Dream scoffed in response, his own ears flattening. Dream guessed he was going to be nicer if he wanted to get some info on Las Nevadas, huh? They sighed as they walked to the room Fundy had run into. Dream opened the door, which was already ajar, and looked inside. Fundy was in the corner, still holding Yogurt, but was looking away from the door, soft sniffling could be heard. Dream was a little shocked that he made Fundy cry, but he guesses this is what happens when you mention someone's fucked up past, is it not? The sheep sighed as he walked over to Fundy, crouching down beside him.
"Listen, Fundy. I don't want to be here anymore than you want me here. But I am not going back to Pandora's Vault. So we're just gonna have to learn how to live with each other for now, ok?" Dream tried to reason, or in a way comfort, Fundy. It's been so long since Dream had talked to anyone other than Sam or Quackity, and he barely talked to them at all. Fundy moved his head to look at Dream, small trails of tears running down his face. Yogurt looked at the both of them and moved out of Fundy's arms and onto the bed.
"Don't mention L'Manburg or Wilbur and we'll be fine." Fundy curled himself up into a ball.
"Are you ok?" Damnit Dream. Why did you say that? Why do you care so much about this all of a sudden, you are Dream! You are not supposed to have attachments.
"No, but why would you care?" Fundy turned his head to look away from Dream. This had been a long day, Fundy was tired. The urge to just let out all of his emotions right now was almost greater than his fear of Dream, but his emotions were still pilling up.
"You just seem, sad." Dream moved to put his hand on Fundy's arm, leaning more into his view. "I know Wilbur was a shitty dad and L'Manburg was terrible, I'm sorry I brought it up I just didn't know-" Dream was cut off by Fundy hugging him, his emotions having overtaken the fear. The fox was crying into his chest, not having the time or thought for words. Dream sat there for a moment before wrapping his arms in turn. Dream looked down at Fundy with a sad look and pulled him in closer, adjusting his position to lean against the wall. Fundy curled up into Dream's lap, a sort of twisted and unexpected comfort for the smaller. Dream sighed and leaned his head back. Fundy's crying had died down and the fox was getting sleepy, it was almost midnight anyways. Eventually, the fox passed out and Dream was left awake. Yogurt, having finished his sandwich, got off the bed and moved into the cuddle beside Fundy, nuzzling into his dad. Dream smiled a bit, the kid was cute. Dream closed his own eyes, soon to drift off into sleep. Dream had always had a hard time falling asleep, but this time it came so easy to him. Soon they drifted off into their own dream and the three were peacefully sleeping on the floor. What a turn of events, huh?
