Friday morning was one of the worst mornings I've had since I moved here.

First, my alarm didn't go off, thankfully Vincent came in and woke me up, but still, it sucked because I barely had time to get ready and pick out a good outfit. The sweatpants and t-shirt I had on barely even fit me.

I knew there was no point though, Aiden probably wouldn't even be in school. Again.

Second, I fell asleep late last night so I had the biggest headache this morning and could barely afford to keep my head up for more than a minute. I've had migraines since I was younger, but I have never hated them more than I do now.

Third, the devil with the red dress decided to make an appearance. TODAY. She also brought company... cramps. And that was just the cherry on top.

FOURTH!

Alright, there is no fourth, but that only makes this morning even worse than I've already stated.

Having to sit through first and second period was extremely painful. I contemplated whether or not I should just pull the period card and skip the hour, but I'm too much of a scaredy cat to actually go through with it.

Not scared of getting caught, scared of having too much work to make up for. It all piles up so quick.

By third period, the pain had slowly subsided, but not enough to not want to pull my hair out. I'd hate to be the cause of my own hair loss, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

As I walked to lunch, Jess and Angela kept a busy chatter while they walked next to me. I didn't bother to engage in their conversation, it was obvious to them that today was not my day and they didn't ask any questions.

Like always, when I entered the cafeteria, my eyes went straight to their table and my heart dropped as I did a double take. And then I froze where I stood.

He's here. Today of all days??

"What are you getting for lunch?" Jessica asks as she drags me to the lunch line.

I quickly drop my head and hide behind her tall figure.

"What's wrong with Delilah?" Angela asks, glimpsing at me like I could fall down any minute.

"Nothing. I'll just get a soda today." I caught up to the end of the line and followed them to our table, my eyes on the ground.

Angela asked if I felt okay and I told her it was nothing, but maybe I should've just played that 'period card'.

No. Absolutely not. I'm a brave woman. I should not have to run away.

I keep my head down and glance up under my lashes at the third table away from us. None of them are looking this way so I lift my head a little higher.

They all look tense. Aiden looks like he's ready to jump across his table at any moment. There are multiple guys sitting in the seats beside him. I recognize Mike and another boy from my English class who sit across from them.

Aiden's mouth moves quickly, as if he's arguing about something. I can't see Mike's face but his shoulders look squared and strained. Suddenly Aiden stands up and I can clearly see his face now. He glares down at Mike as he speaks but I can't hear anything over the crowded lunchroom.

"Delilah, What are you staring at?" Jessica asks, her eyes following my gaze.

At that precise moment, Aiden's eyes flash over to meet mine and Mike turns around to glare at me.

I immediately drop my head, letting my hair fall to cover my face.

"Aiden is staring at you." Jessica giggles in my ear.
