I'm (Not) Broken

Chapter Seven

     "Master?"
     Anakin's voice shook. Obi-Wan cursed quietly.
     "You weren't supposed to know," he said, almost growling.
     "That you're hurt?"
     Obi-Wan opened his mouth, then snapped it shut. He took slow breaths and his signature shifted.
     "No," he said quietly, meeting Anakin's eyes with a calm that Anakin knew well. "Not that I'm hurt."
     "Then what?"
     Obi-Wan shut his eyes tight, seeming to be having a fight in his head. He muttered frustratedly to himself, then jerked his head up to Anakin, who unintentionally took a step back.
     "You weren't supposed to know about... us."
     Anakin's eyes were wide, almost fearful.
     "What do you - what do you mean?"
     "Master Che. I-"
     Obi-Wan grunted against some pain in his head. His signature shifted, and his eyes went hard.
     "Nothing, Anakin. Don't worry about it."
     Anakin shook his head.
     "I can't just 'not worry,' Obi-Wan! If you go in the field like this, you could wind up dead. And I - I can't lose you."
     "You have no idea, Anakin, how many battles I have fought exactly like this."
     "Really? Because I don't think you have."
     "You insolent little-"
     Anakin took another step back, face closing off. Obi-Wan's eyes widened and he took a breath to calm himself.
     "Anakin, I didn't mean to-"
     "You're not Obi-Wan."
     Silence.
     "What?"
     "I said," Anakin spoke, voice wavering, drawing his lightsaber, "You're not Obi-Wan."
     "Anakin, don't be stupid, of-"
     "So who are you, then? And how do you feel like him?"
     He began to slowly circle Obi-Wan. It took everything Obi-Wan had not to turn with him.
     "Anakin, trust me, you do not want to attack me. I won't hurt you, but one or two of us might."
     "Us? What do you mean by that?"
     Obi-Wan muttered.
     "Kriffing... Silas, being a fripping nuisance as always..."
     "What was that?" Anakin said, raising his blade threateningly.
     "Obi-Wan doesn't even know."
