One thing that had never changed throughout the twins life's so far was that Lyra has never been a good sleeper. She was a little night owl and for some reason as soon as the sun went down, Lyra's energy went up.
Andy had tried everything to get her to sleep but she had only ever found one thing that partly worked, waking through the gardens. Lyra had taken a love for the stars, coincidentally and Andy had been more than happy to indulge that.
"That one's me, mummy," Lyra said, pointing to her constellation. Andy nodded as she looked up at the night sky. "Very good, baby. Can you find-,"
Lyra moved her finger to a different part of the sky. "Right there, mummy. That's Leo's," Lyra said. Andy smiled. "You're so smart," She praised, pinching Lyra's cheek.
Andy turned the corner and jumped when she saw Ron pointing his wand at her. He quickly dropped it seeing as it was only Andy.
"Sorry. I heard footsteps and I thought you were a thief," He said. Andy shook her head. "No, I'm just trying to get my little ball of energy asleep," Andy explained. Ron nodded as he motioned for Andy to keep walking.
"Mind if I join you?" He asked. Andy nodded as she started walking again, Ron falling in step with her. Andy could practically feel Lyra bouncing in her arms at the opportunity of telling someone new about the stars.
"That's the North Star!" Lyra shouted pointing towards the north. Ron turned and looked over his shoulder at it, a smile growing on his face. "Oh, it's beautiful," He told her. Lyra nodded dramatically before pointing at another group of stars. "And that's the one my mummy's named after," She said.
Ron's eyes followed her finger. "Oh yes," Andy couldn't help but chuckle at how lost he looked. She looked down at Lyra. "Hun, I don't think he's too interested in the stars like you are," Andy explained.
Lyra sighed. "That's alright. Because Leo doesn't like the stars like me. He likes animals more but I don't like animals like he does," Lyra started to ramble. "And we don't force what we like on other people, mummy," Lyra said. Andy nodded. "That's right,"
Ron stared at Lyra impressed before nodding and facing forward. "So what are you doing out here?" Andy asked as Lyra laid her head on Andy's shoulder.
"Well Me and Harry flipped a coin and he got heads so he got to pick between the front or back and he chose the front so," Ron trailed off. Andy smiled. "I meant, why are you in my garden and not in your bed?" Andy asked. Ron nodded. "Right that. Well,
We figured it would be a good idea to keep watch for the next few days," Ron explained."You know, make sure no one tries to break in after the first failed attempt," Ron shrugged as Andy nodded. "Oh of course but isn't...whoever you're seeing, upset that you're not with them at the moment. I mean us Malfoys are rather hard to resist," Andy said.
Ron chuckled. "Well, Hermione is on a business trip so our bed is rather cold," So her efforts weren't for nothing. Hermione and Ron were still together. "And is that so? You think you're irresistible?" He joked.
Andy nodded. "Yes. For one I think Harry isn't actually watching the front but instead trying to seduce my brother. His bedroom window does face the front yard after all," Andy said with a raised brow.
Ron shrugged. "It wouldn't surprise me. Can I ask you something?" Ron said, turning to look at Andy. Andy's pulse quickened but she found herself nodding. "Of course,"
"The twins' father, could he have done this?" He asked. Andy chuckled and shook her head. "No. He had nothing to do with this, I can assure you," She explained. Ron raised his brow. "How so?"
'Well you're on the case? What criminal would work this hard on his own case?'
"He doesn't know they're his," Andy found herself saying instead. Ron nodded. "Alright," He paused. "For a minute I was beginning to think he chose not to be in your guys' lives and who wouldn't want to listen to....I'm sorry, what's their names?" He asked. Andy smiled. "This is Lyra and my son is Leo," Andy told him.
Ron nodded. "They're adorable. I have three nieces. One's two, one, and there's another one on the way," Ron explained. Andy smiled. "I'm sure they're adorable with their freckles and red hair." She said.
Ron nodded. "Oh yes. They're adorable," He paused for a moment, not sure if he should ask her what had been weighing on him lately. Ron's gaze connected with Lyra's big brown eyes as they slowly dropped closed.
"Looks like your little owl is falling asleep," Ron whispered. Andy looked down at Lyra and smiled warmly. "She usually does, unless it's a cloudy or completely clear night. Those nights I never get her to sleep," Andy chuckled.
Andy stopped and turned to face Ron. "I'm sure you can go home and get some sleep, Weasley," Andy told him. Ron shook his head. "I'm alright, Malfoy," He told her. Andy sighed, shaking her head.
"Well, we have plenty of empty beds in the manor. I'm sure you'll be able to take a little break to nap for a bit," She said. Ron shrugged. "Maybe I'll take you up on that,"
Andy smiled as she turned and started walking back towards the Manor. Perhaps Ron working on the case wouldn't be such a bad thing.
