Chapter 1: Battle Scars
His large hand held the bottle up. I looked deep into his eyes looking for something, anything that can show me that he cares. I saw no emotions. All that looked back at me was a cold stare.
"You will never be good enough!" He yelled as he brought the bottle to my cheek creating a gash of blood.
"You don't deserve anything!" He struck my arm with the now broken bottle.
"You are worthless trash!" He exclaimed as the bottle sliced through my scalp.
With a heavy sob I woke up crying gasping for air. Within seconds James was hugging me and wiping my tears away.
"Shh, it's going to be okay Katey he can't hurt you now. You're safe with me." he comforted as he wiped away my tears.
Its moments like these that make me realized that no matter how hard life gets I'm still very lucky because I have James by my side. He is the best friend I could ever ask for. I trust him with my life and tell him everything. Hes the only one who knows. And it's going to stay that way.
"Thanks James," I say sniffling. What did I do to deserve someone as great as him.
"Thats what I'm here for ," he responded kissing my forehead making me crack a smile.
