"N-none, brother." I quickly hid my disbelief with a smile, and I am not certain whether Zheff noticed or not. But seriously, why?

Why the Imperial palace?

We have been in this journey for half an hour already, which means I still have quite a few minutes left before we reach that place.

However, I am agitated to learn about our destination too late. Why, of all timing, is the crown prince in the Imperial palace? It would have been better if he was in his own palace.

No matter how I seek vengeance, I still have no idea to whom should I direct it.

If I go to the place where my family and I were humiliated and killed off...

I clenched my hands into a fist, bangs covering my cyan eyes that glared outside the view of the carriage.

I might go crazy and kill them all there.

It wouldn't even matter whether they are innocent or not. Nobles, aristocrats, they all spared the innocent no mercy. I want them to have a taste of their own medicine and die a gruesome death—

Shaking my head, I suppressed my emotions and tried to remain calm. No, no, no. I shouldn't let these negative emotions get the best of me. If I kill them now without knowing who the real culprit is, I won't be any different.

I will just be the same to the person who killed us despite being innocent.

Besides, I hold no authority nor manpower to kill anyone. If they managed to falsely accuse us of treason with death sentence in the future, it won't be too difficult for them to sentence me to death for trying to commit genocide.

I don't want that. My family will get involved too. I shall not be reckless. No one must know of my real intentions. Not even my own family.

Now, what can I do to prevent myself from stepping foot into hell—the Imperial palace? Must I excuse myself and use the invitation from Lady Gavinne as a way to escape instead?

"Sister Lettuce, you're pale."

Glancing beside my brother who stared at me, I forced a smile. "It's nothing. I...just don't feel so good."

They both flinched, concerned. "Should we go back to the manor?" Zheff asked, considerate of my situation and opinion. I knew they would react this way, but if they came late because of me, they will probably be targeted by nobles who can't live a life except gossiping.
