Love at first sight

I was running down a dark alley. Sweat was running down my face, I haven't ran this much in forever. I couldn't hold on to the piece of bread in my hand, I was sweating a lot in my palms that it was slipping from my finger. I managed to keep hold of it. I kept looking forward so wouldn't trip over anything. Right a head I saw a stream of light, as I got closer it grew bigger and I saw a corner. The man was still running after me, I could tell by his heavy feet hitting the ground making a loud noise that bounced off the alley walls.

I was getting closer to the sharp turn and right when it came i ran forward and turned so I would trick the man. Right as I turned the corner I ran into a boy. He had shaggy, curly, brown hair. His face was scratched up, his clothes were torn and he was carrying pictures. Right as I ran into him I started running again. I looked behind me and it looks like the baker gave up running after me and the boy was gone. But I noticed a shiny square sheet on the ground. I went over to pick it up i looked at it, folded it in half and put it in my back pocket.

I walked down the dark, silent street with only a few cars passing. I turned down a dark, narrow pathway that was between two apartments. As I walked down it i stopped in the middle and threw the bread to the shadowy figure. He walked up to me with a straight face then smiled while lifting his arms wide so he could hug me. Right then I took his arms pulled them to his side and kneed him in the gut. "Remember I don't like hugs." I said with a stern voice. I walked away and sat next to Lilly. "Gosh princess your strong" randy said while rubbing his stomach at the place I kneed him. I growled and said "I'm not a princess." "Sarah, chill out." Lilly said with a scared tone in her voice.

I calmed my self but this happens every Saturday. Why do I have to get food I could get caught by the police. I guess it's only fair considering almost all of us does it. Lilly is to young, and small. She wouldn't be able to run away from the baker or anyone. The only reason we really have her in this group is because she is a great pick pocketer. Randy interrupts my train of thought and said " alright we all need to get some shut eye we have a rumble in the city tomorrow." Lilly's little voice interrupted "randy it's not a rumble its just going into town why is it so important." Randy jump from the box he was standing on and slammed his feet to the ground making the sound echo off the walls. He crouched down next to Lilly put his arm on her shoulder and said "cause that my friend is where you come in."

Lilly smiled at the fact that she actually had a purpose in our group. "Ok now every body go to bed got to get an enough energy" randy said. I laid down on and old, stinky, worn down mattress that I had to share with Lilly. Believe me it's not what it seems, she kicks and rolls around in her sleep. Right as I closed my eyes Lilly said "I can't sleep I'm to excited this is just so awesome." I replied tiredly "well you have to go to sleep, so shut up and close your eyes." She didn't bother me the rest of the night but I think she just lied awake all night.

When I woke up I found Lilly passed out half way on the mattress and halfway on the concrete. I felt bad because her head was on the concrete, her head is going to hurt. I lifted her head and put it back on the mattress, but she just slid off again into the same position. So I picked up her head and laid her sideways on the mattress so her feet were hanging off. I walked over to Jacob and saw him drawing something with chalk. I looked down and saw a whole bunch of drawing. Jacob loved doing graffiti he was very quite only talks when you get him mad. Then he beats you up, I learns that the hard way.

I kept observing his work but h looked at me and growled. That was a sign he wanted me to leave. He likes being alone I sometimes wonder what goes non his head. He refuses to tell us how he got here. My parents put me in foster care, I got adopted by these people who abused me and the police were coming to our house to ask me questions if they were abusing me, so they shoed me out of the house so they wouldn't get caught. When the police came they said that they got the wrong house. I ran down the street down alleys and I ran into randy. "Please don't hurt me" I quivered. Randy raided his fist with a strait face and when it was over his head he laughed. "I'm not going to hurt you, here come with me." And I lived here ever since.

I really wanted to know how Jacob got here but I knew that I should stay away from him. I walked away and I saw Lilly run up to Dylan and jumped up on his back. He chucked her off and said "what the --" and refused the urge to swear when he saw It was Lilly. Lilly stood up stuck her tongue out at Dylan and skipped away. She ran up to randy and did the same thing, but randy is more reasonable with children. And ran around with her on his back. Her ran over to the mattress and dropped her. She did a little squeal of delight and smiled like she was with family.

I have been with these people longer than her and I never felt like any of them were my brother. But then again she is a cutie and I'm and old hag, at least that's what I think. I never really trust people since my parents. I like to be my own person and control my own life.
