"Rika, where have you been? And who are those children?"
Rika Haitani is carrying Rindou, who is four years old, and holding Ran, who is five years old, while they are weakly standing at before the door of her old and only friend.
"I know it's late, but can you let us in? I just have something to say and a favor to ask," Rika whispers with desperation trying to find a place for her children to feel warm and safe.

"So, you're telling me you've had two children, and for four years you've been waiting for their father to come back? And look at you! For God's sake, you look homeless, and these kids are so skinny, what have they been eating?"
Yoshiko Tanizaki, a 30-year-old snob, can't help but cry upon seeing the two young boys. Ran Haitani, five years old, looks skin and bone; has several wounds on his scalp because of lice and wounds from his legs and arms from infections. Rindou, four years old, is too underweight and seems sick. Yoshiko then carries Rindou and Ran because she feels sorry for the children.
"Please, Yoshiko, I apologize for asking you this, but can my children stay here for a while? My youngest has a sickness. I.... I'm planning to go back into being a stripper, just let me stand on my two feet again and I'll get them back, please," Rika Haitani cries. "I don't want to wait for their father any longer, please, just let my children stay." Rika Haitani then faints from exhaustion and hunger after walking from the farthest area of Roponggi to its center while carrying her two children and their belongings.
