Marinette cursed her clumsiness. She somehow managed to barrel into someone on a barely crowded street when her destination was barely two blocks away. The poor guy looked almost as sleep deprived as her, although he didn't seem very angry. Regardless, Marinette didn't stick around to find out. She needed to not be late to school.

She met Nino and Adrien on the front steps of the school and the three of them made their way to the classroom. Marinette nearly made them late too, but they all made it. The three sat down in the back of the classroom, just like they had before, and quietly talked all throughout the class period.

Marinette, though, was only half paying attention to the conversation of her two friends. She was stuck on thoughts of Nightwing. The Gotham vigilante who had appeared the night before. He was there tracking down one of his own villains, but that wasn't what Marinette was stuck on.

He knows Batman. Batman was her father, according to what Mother always told her and Damian. He knew her father. What would he do if he found out? He seemed nice enough, but she barely knew him, and she certainly had no reason to trust him. What if he told Batman? What would happen then? Did Marinette want anything to do with a man that her grandfather and mother both saw as powerful and dangerous?

She had left her life of killing and hurting people behind. She much prefered saving people.

But what if she was wrong about her brother's death? If she went to Batman, surely she would find out. Did she even want to know? What if her hopes were left unanswered and all she got was a confirmation of her brother's death? What then?

She didn't want to risk that, so she resolved to do everything in her power to make sure Nightwing did not find out.

Soon enough, Marinette's thoughts were interrupted by the lunch bell, and all the students were shuffling out of the classroom, herself included.

When her trio made it to lunch, they were disgusted by the subject of conversation that the others in her class seemed enraptured by. Lila.

"How are we gonna get them to believe us?" Nino asked. Marinette sighed. She was really starting to hate Lila.

"We could start by gathering evidence of our claims," Marinette stated, "I've already talked to Jagged about what Lila said about him, so we've got a starting point going."

"I could ask around at my next photo shoot, see if any of the famous people she's lied about in those circles have anything to say," Adrien suggested. Marinette nodded, and smiled at him.

"Good idea," she said.

"What can I do?" Nino asked. He seemed so lost. He didn't have any famous connections like the other two of them.

"Why don't you research the disease she claims to have," Marinette said, "she told Mrs. Bustier that she had tinnitus, and that was why I got moved on the first day of school."

"Yeah, I can do that," he said. The trio decided to talk about other stuff for the rest of lunch, unfortunately, it was another thing that Marinette didn't want to talk about.

"Hey, did you guys hear about the sightings of a foreighn vigilante here in Paris from last night?" Adrien asked, looking really excited.

"Yeah!" Nino replied, matching his enthusiasm, "it was one from Gotham right? Nightwing, I think." Adrien nodded.

"Yeah, Mari, did you hear about it?" Adrien asked her.

"No, I didn't," she lied, god she hated lying, she wished she could just tell them, but no. Master Fu had been very clear, and so had their Kwamis. No telling anyone, under any circumstances, until Hawkmoth was defeated.
