As I entered my old ally way I sat myself down on the old, sickly green couch.
"Hey old buddy." I smiled as I noticed the shivering, old dog next to me. Poor thing, snow coated his head and back, rib bones shown through his wrinkled, baggy brown skin. I wish I could help him... Maybe David could. No that would be silly, and super embracing.
I suddenly feel ashamed I would let my ego in between this helpless dog and his comfort. Who am I?
When I speak to him, the dog raises his head and whines. I always felt like he knew I was here. A voice I haven't heard from in a while interrupted my thoughts.
"Jessica!" Tefuel states in utter surprise. My heart sinks. He knows.
"Yea?" I respond, deciding to play dumb.
"Do you know what happened?" He presses. It shocks me that he of all people is here questioning me.
"No?" I put on a lying face and dam it feels good to be able to lie again.
"I wouldn't expect you to. There was some technicality, I wasn't able to contact you for the last two days." I couldn't help the smile from spreading on my lips, he didn't know. I am free. I played of my happiness with teasing,
"No wonder its been quiet." He glares at me, taking notice of my mood.
"Wow your in a good mood. Anything happen while I was gone?"
"Nope! Nothing at all." My heart warmed with the satisfaction of my fib.
"Hey so I was wondering, can dogs see me?" Tefuel grins,
"Sort of, they know your there but they can't fully see you because there is not much to really look at. Why?"
" just this old dog always looks at me funny." I nod towards the creature next to me. Tefuel smiles. I smile. Possibilities of David and I together quickly run though my mind but I shake them away. I now have time to decide. Are my feeling towards David going to be a problem?
~~~~Tefuel~~~~~~
Tefuel knew he was a good liar, but did he really just fool Jessica? He wondered what she would do now that she thought he didn't know about all that had happened in the two days he left her be. Maybe lying just ran in the family, he knew that Gott was very good at it.
"How was your night with Kaunis?" Gott wondered the morning after.
"Do you even have to ask? That girl is amazing!" Tefuel bragged as he shoveled some eggs.
"Glad you are enjoying our time here." Gott smiled. If he had said that to anyone else they would honesty have thought it was sincere, but Tefuel knew his brother.
"Okay, what's wrong?"
"Nothing." Tefuels heart skipped a beat as he realized what was going on.
"No. No, Gott no." Panick filled every cell in Tefuels body.
"Tefuel, calm down. She is all yours."
"No. No, Gott you say that but when you love, you really love. Gott no, no, no, no..." Tefuel babbled on while Gott tried to convince himself of his decision. He would set aside his feelings toward Kaunis so Tefuel would be happy. He always has and he always will make his brother happy. It is what he came to do, and he will do it.
"Tefuel. My dear brother look at me." Gott grabbed his sibling by the shoulders to make sure he was heard.
"She is going to tear us apart." Tefuel mumbled, "Gott it's inevitable. What are we going to do?" Gotts heart sank as he did what was best for his family.
"We are going to stay together. We will always be family. No pretty face can break our bond. Tefuel you," Tefuel looked away, ashamed of his tear filled eyes, "Tefuel you," Gott repeated, "can have Kaunis. You like her, she makes you happy, so you shall have her. Okay?" Tefuel looked at his brother with love only a true family could share, "thank you." He whispered as he wrapped his arms around a heart broken Gott.
The large, open field filled with the sounds of Gott screaming. He knew it would do no good but he also knew it couldn't hurt his situation. How could he be so stupid? He had put his responsibilities aside for at least one human lifetime and had made his brother perfect for Kaunis, and Kaunis perfect for him. They would be happy and live a long life without ever knowing Gotts secret. But how could he shape a perfect girl and not expect a mortal version of himself to fall for her? He had decided on full emotion effect for his getaway. He wanted to live that mortal life of not knowing who his soulmate was going to be so he never made one for himself, but he made one for his brother. He couldn't help it and he couldn't go back so he had to live with the fact that he had fallen for his brothers girl.
"Um... Sir?" Gotts eyelids flickered open only to find his best friend staring down at him.
"Geez, Cadence you gave me a freight." He mumbled as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
"Wow, I don't remember being human so tiring." "It wasn't so long ago Cadence. Any ways, why on Earth are you here?" She looked at her feet, avoiding eye contact and Gott suddenly knew why she was there, and it made him smile.
Cadence didn't have a happy life before. She had zero self confidence, and died unmarried because nobody wanted the fat, ugly, poor girl that she was. But Gott had gave her a sweet heart. He knew that she had a purpose beyond what her peerers could see.
When Cadence dived into depression, Gott showed mercy and she became sick. When she died of lack of health she arrived at the gates of Gott. He gave her a new body, one of golden tanned skin wrapped perfectly around toned muscles. She wore silky blonde hair that grew to the mid back. He gifted her with brilliant white wings, that she used to oversee all the love in the world. She was the first Angle that Gott created and that was her purpose.
"You know you don't have to be ashamed to visit me when you are lonely." Gott smiled at his friend. Her light pink lips danced into a faint smile and her vibrant green eyes trailed back up to meet his.
"Okay, okay, I missed you." She admitted as she stretched her blinding white wings behind her.
"It's fine. I'm glad you came, I missed you too." She smiled lightly and looked to the floor again.
"What?" Gotts face morphed in confusion at her weird behavior. Cadence bit her lip and looked to him without moving her head, "I've been watching you Gott, and..." She paused to gather courage, "I think you love her." Gotts heart stopped and he froze. He had hoped that he had just been playing himself and that it wasn't true, but Cadence just proved that wasn't the case.
"Do you have anything to say?"
"Not really, I don't want to love her because she is Tefuels, and not mine."
"Oh come on!" Cadence groaned, "you are freaking GOD for crying out loud. Tefuel is a human you made as a piece in your puzzle, for your get away." Gott shot her a venomous look, "Cadence how dare you!" He yelled, "I love Tefuel! He is more than just a toy! He is my brother, and I love him more than I love her! Therefore, I have made my decision. And I know some people call me God, but in this life time I prefer Gott."
"Gott?" Tefuels voice drifted down the hall, "are you talking to yourself again, or do you have a girl over?" His sarcasm was expected, that was Tefuel, but is was a real question.
"Um, no I don't have any one over, I am just thinking aloud." Gott glanced out the window to find that it was almost dawn. He heard the loud stepped of Tefuel coming to his room, and he acted quick to shoot Cadence a look to leave. She nodded, spread her wings, and left
