I awoke with a start, feeling a body moving next to me. The fact that I was naked didn't suppress my panic as I rolled over and reached under my bed, heart beating out of my chest as I grabbed my pistol. I felt a hand press on my back and whipped around my pistol wildly, ready to blow my attacker's head off.
Staring back at me was an equally startled and naked woman. She was the type of bombshell that you passed on the street daily and made your head turn. Her expression wasn't exactly appreciative of my head turn at the moment.
I remembered now. I had beaten Selena pretty much the whole night in the various games and she had excused herself shortly after that. I hadn't been able to hit the homerun but I figured someone else would suffice and didn't take long for me to convince someone spending the night in the Colt quarters might be the best experience in St. Louis. That someone now glared at me like she was now regretting it however.
I lowered the gun with a sigh. "I'm sorry about that." I said in an attempt to defuse the situation.
The woman nodded and wordlessly hunted frantically for her clothes. I helped myself to a morning smoke, ignoring her hurried escape. I hadn't felt a need to attempt at building a bond anyway, it was much better this way.
Soon enough, with a very quick goodbye, I was alone with my thoughts once more. I had a busy day ahead, which was becoming the norm as of recent. I planned to meet with Jonah to discuss strategy about the whole Grayson situation. He was to be the Chief's representative, so me and Grayson could limit our face to face interactions and by extension limit getting caught meeting up.
I got dressed, putting on my usual full suit attire while admiring myself in the mirror. My hand started to shake involuntarily and I suddenly felt light headed. Forgot the morning vodka!
After a hour of meshing with early birds at the casino, Jonah showed up. He wore a bright orange shirt with faded jeans this time around, man bun done up looking as stupid as ever.
"Wassup!" Jonah called as he saw me approaching. "I hope you're prepared to feed me, I'm pretty hungry."
I raised an eyebrow. "At nine in the morning?"
"A man's oughta eat, Vito." He said, a huge grin plastered on his face. It seemed being on the same team again really lifted his spirits, or maybe seeing half naked females in a casino so early brightened a man's mood.
"How's your sister doing?" He asked as we started toward the elevators. Jonah had a clear crush on Reyna back in the day and I figured the time spent apart hadn't changed that. Even I couldn't get a read on if she ever felt the same way but he had repeatedly tried to charm her which didn't seem to work out.
I gave him a hard look then turned back forward, opting not to say anything.
"I bet she's fine. Hope we see her." He continued, undaunted.
We arrived at my office with no sighting of my sister, to Jonah's dismay. Michael waited inside as we entered.
"Sup." Michael greeted Jonah, the two exchanging a casual fist-bump. I raised a mental eyebrow at that, Michael wasn't usually the type to warm up to someone so quickly, even if they were former childhood friends.
I offered the seat infront of my desk to Jonah and pulled out some Vodka with three glasses in a smooth, practiced motion. "I assume this will be enough to satisfy your hunger?"
"Absolutely." The almost drooling Jonah quickly replied.
After a full five minutes of intense drinking and Jonah's weird moaning with each sip, I decided it was time to get to it.
"So." I said, fortunately interrupting Jonah mid moan. "The mayor expects Grayson to be out of commission in a weeks time. Me, personally I'm aiming to do it in half of that for a certain bonus."
