[10 minutes after the events of book 1]
Ruby Le, a teenager, sits a wall of rocks where the mountain stands. Her boyfriend, Yin, who is a bird-like monster, sits with her.
Yin: I find it really weird that... you have no... arms, no offense, but...-
He looks out to the city to his right.
Yin:- They all seem the same. Think of it like this, you are an unique being. This hasn't happened to anybody.
Ruby Le: I know. Don't blame me. Blame my kidnapper. Sheesh.
Yin: You never told me he kidnapped you.
Ruby Le smiles.
Ruby Le: He did.
Yin: Do you need help? why are you smiling?
Derek then walks past them. He's holding a bag of his things.
Yin: Excuse me. Do you need any help?
Derek: Nah... I don't really have a lot of things. Just one more trip back down there to grab my things and I'll be finished.
Yin: I can go get them for you man. We monsters help each other out.
Derek: ... *thinking* Mmm... Alright. Just... Ah... crap... I remember I left my video game down there. Can you grab that for me? J-just do play it or anything; it's on my save file, plus I don't want you to see any spoilers to the game.
Yin: Dude, Tectonic Sky is, like, the bomb. The pixel art is great, the mechanics are great. I even bought a copy as soon as the barrier opened.
Derek: Oh... Uh...
Ruby starts heading down there.
Ruby: I'm going to find Anxilo. See you later.
Derek and Yin look at her from behind.
Derek: Whatever man. You go help me, I'll go open up a restaurant and help you to a free meal. First week is free meal.
Yin: I'm used to having worms. Y'know. I'm a bird.
Derek: Don't worry. I'll find something to satisfy all being, even if I have to work off my butt for popularity.
Yin: W-whatever. I'm going to go back in. See you later, friend.
Derek: See you.
Back in the cave, Ruby Le rushes go to Derek's house. She runs all the way to Snowden town, along with a quick shortcut from river person. She doesn't even know where he live.
She just stares off into space.
A few minutes later Yin appears.
Yin: *Pant pant* Man... *gulp* I nearly got my ass kicked by my ex. Man...
Ruby: Could've asked me to come telepathically.
Yin: You can do that?!
Ruby Le nods. They walk.
There are a lot of monsters moving out of their homes, finally happy to leave this place.
Ruby Le: I'm getting annoyed by these thoughts.
Yin: Maybe distract yourself with another thought.
*Ruby Le thinks about Bunny Man.*
They walk until Yin points to where Derek's house is. His house is where the river person is.
Ruby Le *pissed* you made me walk in circles? Dude, like... ugh.
Yin: I felt like you needed some exercise.
