"Well, Miss Sancoeur", the doctor reluctantly began, "before I am going to tell you the results of the examination, I would like to ask, why this is so urgent. I mean, you are still in an age, where you can have children the regular way. As soon as your body has completely recovered from whatever has affected you like that!"
She inhaled deeply, then spoke with a firm voice, though rather quietly:
"I would very much prefer to continue this conversation with the man waiting outside until this checkup is over, to not make me feel exposed. As I am still not very good on my feet, would you mind?"
"Oh, of course not!", he pressed a button on his desk and said to one of his assistants at the reception, "would you please send Mr.....uhm...."
He looked at Nathalie questioningly.
"Agreste!", she informed him.
He inhaled sharply, then nodded and told it to the woman.
Just seconds later, a young dark haired girl, probably an intern or apprentice, opened the door after a short knock and led the man inside.
After introducing himself to the doctor, he asked:
"Well, as you called me in here, I suppose, there are some things, you can tell me?"
He gazed at his assistant, who shrugged too.
"I asked him to have you sent here, before telling me everything. Like this, I won't forget to tell you all the things he says and he won't have to repeat it, if you wanted to hear from him in person!", she explained.
Gabriel nodded.
"Well thought, Nathalie!", he reached from his seat over to the chair, she was sitting on and took her hand into his, interlinking their fingers right away. He could feel her tense immediately and began to caress the back of her hand his his thumb until she relaxed again. He gave her an encouraging smile, then focused on the man in front of them.
"Well then, I have been asking Miss Sancoeur, why this is so urgent to her. Or may I say the both of you? I mean, she is thirty four years old, there is nothing keeping the both of you from having a child the regular way. And especially, once she has fully recovered! So, would you like to tell me?"
Gabriel inhaled deeply, but Nathalie just replied with: "No!"
The designer couldn't help but smirk at the man's expression and squeezed her hand to ensure her, she was doing great.
The physician cleared his throat.
"I...uhm.....sorry for invading your privacy..... I just thought, well, never mind. To the results of the examination: Despite the state, you're actually in, meaning the situation with your legs and your respiration, while the latter has according to your previous checkups improved a lot and the damage to your lungs has been reduced to a minimum and will most likely heal out soon, I could not find the slightest issue that would speak against the procedure you are willing to do.
I would have suggested, that you should wait at least a couple more months, before doing that, but as you said it has to be within the next two months, three if not possible during those first two months.
I can now tell you, that you in fact came here at the exact right moment, to start preparing your body for transferring the embryos into your womb next week, meaning giving you a couple of injections until then!"
"It's embryo, not embryos. And let's just say, that the future of two people I care deeply for depends on the success. So, whatever I'll have to do, I am ready to do it!", Nathalie said in a neutral manner, making the doctor raise an eyebrow.
