"Yes! Finally, I'm out of that prison-like hellhole they call high school." She exclaimed happily, taking light and relieved steps.
"Eh..." The burly wolf next to her sighed. "Y'know you just graduate just to go to school again once summers over, right?"
With a wave of her dainty hand, she laughed. "That's only if you're going to college."
"...You are going to college, though?"
Playfully pushing him away, the girl exclaimed. "Yeah, duh! I'm talking about like what you're doing." She stopped. "But like what are you doing?" Quizzed the female.
He opened the doors and unlocked his car with his keys. You could hear a prominent beep beep as he pressed the button down. Getting in he sighed. "Yeah it's a little complicated. I'm just going to take an apprenticeship for becoming a welder."
As he started the car, a question buzzed around inside her body. "Hey, Caden..?" She asked.
"Hm?" He answered as he was pulling his vehicle out. "What's up?"
Sighing, she looked at him from the seat next to him. "Are you sure you want me to live with you? I mean, I can be messy, and tough, and a fucking wreck sometimes."
"Rangle." Caden said as he grabbed her hand with his free one. "I'm so excited to have you living with me. And also, you're messy? Honey everytime you came over I deep cleaned the apartment, just for you." He smiled.
Rangle smiled back, as him and her stopped at a red light, she then told him that she had to stop up at her parents' house to grab her stuff and say goodbye.
He nodded in response, then spoke. "Do you want me to come in?" The words solemnly left his mouth.
"It'd be appreciated. I know you don't like my parents all that much because-"
"Because they don't like me very much? Yeah I know..." Sighing, he then pulled into her parents' driveway. "It's fine though, I can't expect everyone to like me." As he turned his keys and his car shut off. Taking the keys out, he opened his door and shut it behind him. To his surprise, Rangle was already at the door. She opened it and went to the side, letting him go in first. Her two tails wagged for a split second at the thought of leaving her parents' house.
After Caden was inside her house, Rangle stepped inside and shut the door behind her. Right as the door shut, footsteps approached and her mom showed up at the top of the stairs. "Hi dear, and hello Caden."
Caden just waved back, his tail flicking in an apathetic manner.
Rangle's mom beckoned Caden to go downstairs. "Go and grab her stuff. I have to talk to my daughter." Her ears twitched.
"...'Kay, Bea." As he walked downstairs and opened the door to Rangle's room. He'd been here before, and he thought it was so offputting seeing it empty and plain.
Walking up the stairs, Rangle made depressing eye contact with her mother. "Y'know, it'd make him feel a little more welcome if you were nicer to him." As her tails swung in annoyance.
"Well, you know how hard it gets when it comes to Caden." As Bea grabbed her coffee cup and softly sipped from it. "It's just that... he's not what we expected."
She rolled her eyes. "Well what the fuck do you want him to be? He's not gonna change because you and dad don't like him." Her eyes were lit with a fiery glint.
Bea slammed her cup on the table. "Ragstice Lynn, do not talk to me like that. I am your mother."
Rangle scuffed the carpeted floor with her feet, embarrassed. "...Sorry."
Back downstairs, Caden had grabbed all of his girlfriend's belongings, when a voice came from behind.
"What're you up to?"
Jumping, he dropped most of Rangle's stuff. Thank goodness none of it was fragile. "What the hell do you want? You don't sneak up on people like that." As he made angry eye contact with the smokey gray wolf in the doorway.
"I'm onto you, buddy." As the female took a few steps inside the desolate room.
Caden, who had his back turned, rolled his eyes. "Okay..." He muttered as he stood all the way up, his body towering over the other. "So what'd you find, Miss Detective, hm? That me and your sister are just friends?"
Scoffing, she crossed her arms. "There's no way you two are just friends. You guys have to be dating. I mean you guys are gonna be living together, and I hate that." Her brows furrowed, and her lip slightly curved in a small snarl.
"Maggie aren't you like 10 years old? And why do you hate me?" As Caden pushed her out of the way to get through.
Maggie rolled her eyes drastically. "I'm 14, and I don't like you because you're not who I expected Rangle to love. Also, didn't you get kicked out of your parents' house for smoking pot?"
"That's true, but I don't care. My parents are shitty. Now go away." Caden groaned as he fumbled his way up the stairs and to the door.
Rangle sulked down the stairs and opened the door to let Caden outside. "I'll be there in a minute, okay?" She smiled. "I love you."
"I love you, too." As he stepped out of the house and started towards his car. "How in the hell did she survive 18 years in a house like that?" Caden muttered to himself.
She could feel an uprising tension between her and Bea. Rangle could feel her mother's eyes burn like two blazing suns in the back of her head. Turning around, she sighed. "What do you want?"
"Rangle, sweety, I just want what's best for you. And I-I'm not sure if it's Caden that's the best." As Bea looked sympathetically into her daughter's eyes, which were so close to letting go a river of tears.
Rangle turned away, sniffling. "That's it. It hurts that you guys don't accept him. He's my boyfriend. And I love him, and the sooner you can accept the damn truth, the better off you'll be."
Sighing, she walked over to Rangle. "It's fine if you want to date him. Maybe I don't agree now, but who knows what'll happen in the future." As she pulled her in for a tight hug. "I love you, dear. Goodbye." She said while pulling Rangle away. She kissed her daughter's head and sent her off.
"I love you too, goodbye. I'll come visit every once in awhile. Bye, Maggie."
Maggie stood at the end of the stairs in the basement and waved goodbye. "Have fun."
"I'll try." Rangle walked out of the house and was walking to her partner's car, when she stopped and turned around to look back at the house she grew up in. She smiled and continued her way to the vehicle.
When Rangle was in the car, Caden looked at her. "So? How was it?"
"Sometimes my parents suck."
