Stiles stood under the moon looking at it as he felt the cool breeze against his face. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath.
He felt like he should calm his frazzled nerves by hunting. But...thought better if it.
What would the humans think if he returned covered in dirt...and blood?
"Stiles?" Victoria asked from behind wrapping her arms around his abdomen resting her chin on his right shoulder.
His hands automatically found hers and smiled. "Forgive me." He said quietly.
"No need to apologize, my love. Anyone would have done the same if they had been under the same amount of stress you are." Victoria explained.
"I felt like I ruined the wedding." He whispered. Victoria shook her head slightly.
"Not at all, darling. The others are just worried about you." She told him.
"I...I'm scared, V." Stiles announced in a low whisper.
He, himself, was trying to come to terms with this fear. The fear of dying and leaving behind the love of his life. Leaving her alone. Or worse watching her die because of him.
"The Volturi will not come after you. They are too smart for that. You are too well protected and have many friends who are willing to die for you." Victoria explained.
"V, the Volturi will come after us. It's inevitable. They're too interested in me and my gifts to just let me go." Stiles pointed out.
"And I will be there to fight them and keep them back." Victoria countered. "I don't want you getting hurt, Victoria." Stiles said.
If he still had the ability to cry...he would have by now. He was consumed by immense sadness. His worries clouded his judgement.
He wanted to leave his troubles behind. But couldn't bear to leave Victoria alone. He loved her too much to even bear the thought of doing it.
"I love you, Stiles. You know that right?" Victoria asked coming around and holding his face in her hands gently looking into his amber-red eyes.
"I know." He whispered. "Then you should know that whatever comes your way. You will face it with knowing that I will be by your side. No matter what. If they come, let them. I'm tired of running from them. The only thing that matters to me is being with you. Stiles...I'd die to let you live." She stated.
"V, I don't want you to!" Stiles said firmly holding her hands.
"Well, too bad, because you're stuck with me. If you are to face the Volturi, you aren't doing so alone. Because it will be a cold day in hell if you think I will let you do that." Victoria told him.
Stiles looked into Victoria's scarlet red eyes after the contacts had disintegrated from the venom in her eyes.
"I can't imagine seeing you die. Not...not again. I wanted to kill myself the last time." Stiles said as Victoria furrowed her adorable eyebrows.
"Stiles..." She whispered. "That is the pain of loving someone unconditionally. You care for them no matter. Through eternal life and sudden death. You care indefinitely,"
"That's what makes you a good man, sweetheart. That's one of the many reasons why I love you. Because you are selfless." Victoria explained.
"You care about everyone else before dating for yourself. Putting the needs of others before your own. You're have a good heart, Stiles. Don't let the fear of a threat ruin this for you." Victoria told him resting her forehead against his his as he closed his eyes.
"I do love you, V. I just...didn't think I could lose someone else. I've already lost so much." Stiles breathed. "I know, honey. I'm so sorry." She stated pulling him into a hug.
The couple stood in silence under the pale moonlight in each other's arms. They gently swayed back and forth to the distant music playing from the wedding.
I will marry this woman. I'm not going to let the Volturi ruin this. If they want me, they're going to have to wait.
