Y/N and Sana threw each other a glare as the huge marble door stood tall in front of them.

Neither of the two wanted to be here right at this moment all dressed up— one in a crimson dress and the other in an ash grey suit. All they heard a few hours ago was that an impromptu ball was being held per the arrival of King Stefan Minatozaki from his successful travel to the Great Temple¹. His daughter and her sworn enemy, Y/N Zugravescu², were out in the rice fields. Beating each other to death with whatever they could get their hands on when the two women heard footsteps that didn't match theirs.

Sana quickly pryed herself off of the other woman and dusted her dress. The latter did the same as she wiped off the sweat on her forehead and the dirt that managed to get on her shirt. She cussed at herself when she realized that bruises had formed on her arm from blocking the princess' punches.

Fucking hell, demons really are strong.

"You're fortunate I can't use any of my abilities right now, Y/N. What do you have? A lucky charm?" Sana grinned.

Y/N scoffed, "Fuck you, Minatozaki. You're lucky I'm not prepared or else you'd be ashes by now."

They both halted their chat when they heard another voice.

"Your Highness! What-" The servant paused as she saw the other dishelved woman. Thinking Y/N was a man with how she dressed and looked, the servant rushed over to Sana, acting as a barricade for both of them.

"What have you done to the princess?! How dare you violate the Light of this kingdom?!  I'm calling the guards on you!"

The royal was alarmed with the statement as she didn't want anyone getting involved between her and the woman. No one else had to know the bad blood between them.

Sana was the hunter, Y/N was her prey.

The princess stated, "W-What?! No! She's uhm... a close friend of mine, Lydia."

The other lady had a bewildered look on her face as to why the noble lied.

"T-That's a woman, your highness?" Lydia whispered.

"Indeed. She does not dress up like a lady that often for she is quite a..." She gave Y/N a quick glance, "formidable knight of Veritas.³"

The maid nodded slowly as she understood.

"Well I...," She bowed at a 90° angle, "Please  forgive my rude behavior, Your Ladyship."

Y/N rolled her eyes at the noblewoman as she was forced to reply, "It's alright, relax yourself."

Lydia thanked her as she collected herself. Taking an envelope with the royal family's crest out of her pocket, she handed the invitation to Sana.

"I have come to deliver this, Your Highness. The King has decided to hold a last minute banquet upon his arrival from his trip to the Great Temple. He requires you to do a dance for everyone with a partner of your choice."

How pathetic of father. How desperate is he to killing this pest?

Sana looks at Y/N as irritation consumed her head. Did she really not have a choice? If she failed to do what her father wanted what would become of her?

Internally rolling her eyes, she mustered a bright smile.

"Thanks for informing me, Lydia. And indeed, I already have someone in mind."

The servant's eyes lit up as she always wanted to see the princess dance gracefully with a charming, brave man like in those fairy tales she read as a child. Her Highness' beauty is unmatched by anyone in this Kingdom. Almost as if she's not human.
