Chapter six- Motive

(Hajime POV)

I awoke to the morning announcement, I got out of the cottage after changing and I saw Nidai- Kun here, "Hey Hinata, do you want to hang out with me after breakfast?" Nidai- Kun said, "Sure, let me-" I was interrupted by Monokuma, "Upup.. I figured out an motive for you all." Monokuma said, "Go to the Central Park." Monokuma continued, we all begrudgingly went to the Central Park.

We saw a video game stand, "The game if about your High School life. The first two people who win the game would get prizes." Monokuma said, "W- what..? Mr. Hajime, what should we do!" Soda- Kun asked, "W- well, I think we should ignore it for now until we figure out what part of High School it is." I said, everyone agreed, "Now.. Nidai- Kun let's go hang out." I said walking into the beach, Nidai- Kun followed me.

We stand around the beach, "Hey Nidai- Kun, there's something I've been wondering about ever since we first met..." I said, "Hm? You've been thinking about me that much!? I see...then I guess I must accept it. C'mon, BRING IT ON!" He yelled, "D- Don't misunderstand! H- Hey, why are you walking toward me? Didn't you just tell me to come to you!?" I said in a little surprised, "What? I was about to offer to do "it" to you..." He said, why the hell does he mean by 'it'?

Should I ask..? "...What's "it"? I sort of want to know... Wait, I definitely don't want to find out!" I said, "Fine then...so, what were you going to talk about?" He said, "I wanted to ask you why you're just a team manager...? What inspired you to become one?" I asked, ""JUST"!?!? Are you mocking the management profession!?" He yelled, "N- no.. I didn't mean it like that..." I said, "Hinata, you don't know anything. All roads lead to managers... If you yearn to master something, you will naturally require a manager's help. Countless records in this world would not exist without managers! The bond between a top-notch athlete and their manager is one that cannot be severed!" Nidai- Kun said, "Bond...?" I said in fake surprise, hopefully this would work..

Looks like it did work, "Until now, I've been with various athletes... Yeah... looking back, there were all splendid athletes... I had a baseball player who got an offer to join the major leagues while he was still in middle school... A figure skater who performed six and a half spins... And a tennis player who managed to win a 36-hour long match... They... were all people who surpassed me." He said.. is he talking about Leon- Kun.. but who are the two other people..?

I still need to place on my act tho.. "D-Do people like that really exist...?" I said faking my surprise, "Now that you understand, don't mock managers. As long as you never do that...I'll lead you to victory, no matter the match!" He said, 'I'm not much of a sports guy anyway... But more important, he's always got a lot of confidence. And...I can understand how proud he must be to be a team manager. Just as I always thought... Nidai- Kun is still an amazing guy.' I thought to myself, I smiled to myself.

Nidai- Kun look happy, "Hm? Did you just praise me in your heart?" I said in actual surprise, "When you and I face each other like this, we are one in both body and mind. I CAN EASILY SEE WHAT YOU'RE THINKING!" He said then yelling the last part, "O-One in both body and mind...? I really don't want that." I murmured, "Hey, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm used to being showered with praise! I'm so popular that there are teams all over the place fighting over me." Nidai- Kun said happily, he eventually left.

I left the beach and I wandered around for a bit, I ran into Soda- Kun, "Hey Soda- Kun, do you want to hang out?" I asked, "Yeah sure Mr. Hajime, where do you want to go?" He asked, "How about we go to my cottage?" I said, "Okay, let's go!" He said excitedly, we head over there, we entered in and he loved my cottage.

We both sat on my bed, "Agh, jeez... Why aren't there any vehicles with engines on this damn island!? At this rate, I'll take anything! A go-cart, RC toys, a baby carriage! Just let me tinker with something!" He said, "Baby carriages, don't have engines..." I said quietly, "There's nothing I can't disassemble, so I took apart the alarm clock inside my room. And when I did that... I couldn't put it back together." He said, "Oh... so there are times when even the Ultimate Mechanic can't even fix something." I said, I guess there are times where he can't even fix something.

Well that doesn't really matter right now... "Of course, that sort of thing happens to me all the time. One time I was tinkering around without thinking and before I realized it, I made some kind of car thing. For some reason...the things I fix always end up being some kind of vehicle." He said happily, "I don't understand that at all..." I said, "Ah, I don't mind messing around with the frame or connecting the electrical equipment... But guys definitely need something with a rumble and some bam bam bam! Hey Hajime, you know what I'm talking about, right? You know what I really want right now!" He said, "You're talking about an engine, right? That's what you want to mess around with...?" I said, I hope I'm correct.

Soda- Kun was very happy, "That's right! That's exactly it! Disassemble, reassemble, see how it goes... Disassemble, reassemble, see how it goes... Doing that over and over gets my brain moving!*Sigh...* I really miss the smell of oil..." He said, "You're right, I haven't really smelled anything like that since we came to this island. But even if there was a car here, you couldn't drive it since you don't have a driver's license, right?" I said, I knew that he wouldn't do something like that.

Soda- Kun looked a little annoyed, "There's no way I'd do something annoying like that. I'd just get motion sickness anyway. I just...really like the feeling of an engine running. I like all kinds of machines, but vehicles are definitely the best of the best. After all, they look so awesome! Man, I really want to go home soon and start working on my bike again!" He said, "Oh...you're even making a bike, huh..." I said, "My dream machine is seriously awesome, y'know? According to my calculations, it has a top speed of 585mph. Man, I really miss tinkering with that thing... Oh, but it obviously wouldn't be street legal. And since I get motion sickness, I can't ride it anyway." He said, 'What's the use of making a ride that you can't even use? Man.. I would never get Soda- Kun...' I thought to myself, he eventually left my cottage.

I smiled softly to myself as it had became nighttime, I heard that my brother had came back into the room, "Goodnight Izu.." I said, he cuddled up against me and he said goodnight, we both drifted off into sleep.
