Reveka

You will never get wrong with families; they are a part of their social standing in the society. Whoever they may be, as long as you treat them as a part of you, they will always be there as a support group.

Privileged, from my point of view, I am grateful to grow in a family who cares and loves me the most. Other than them, I completely struggle to socialize. I never thought of that as a problem, I grew up well treated by our family friends. I'd say it's a struggle when you aren't in the same school as them.

As I walk the hallway, different people were scattered finding their own classrooms. I struggle to make eye contact with someone, hopefully a way to open a conversation. I sighed with the thought of it, from what I observed, most of them were in a group or some were intentionally distancing themselves from groups.

I walk my way through the crowd and I find myself watching the door. I just couldn't open it for some reasons, maybe the nervousness or the guy standing next to me doing the same thing.

"You know, you should make friends. Grade 7 na tayo and you still suck at making friends. I won't consider you as one so please 'wag kang humarang sa daan." I immediately stepped away and follow his lead. Jachin really wasn't my friend but thanks to our mothers, we-maybe only I consider him as one.

Jachin is suplado, halata naman from him. I went inside the room and found a seat on the middle. I seated and look around, trying to insert myself.

My eyes landed on Myke who just picked a seat and immediately talked to his seatmate. Lucky for him, I didn't even peg him as a talkative one but people changed, I guess.

I rested my head on the table, trying to find peace from all of this. I still have to adjust so that's alright, I'll give myself time for that. As I hold back my tears, a voice near me startled me.

"Hi! I'm Amara and you are?". I looked up and saw her smile. I immediately smiled at her and introduced myself.

"Hi! I'm Reveka, how are you?"

I smiled with the thought na may kaibigan na ako. I scanned my eyes around the room and I noticed Jachin was there chilling on his seat.

He turned around and our eyes met. He raises his eyebrows and looked at his seatmate. He whispered to his seatmate's ears and both of them laughed at my direction.

I took out my book and started scanning the pages. As Amara was talking about the entrance exams for our admissions, I asked myself if I ever did something against Jachin. But all I remember was the time he told his yaya na matutulog na siya but tumakas siya instead.

I saw him on his sleepwear on the hallway of our rest house at 3 am. In my defense, kakagising ko pa lang and I was thinking of eating chocolates.

"Hey Reveka, sayang nandito na si Miss. I will continue telling you my chika about the exams." I smiled and looked in front of me.

I never thought attending my first day of high school would be a memory refresher.
