Chapter 1: Starting the Quest

I put the last of my clothes into the bag and zipped it closed; I was already late. Rushing down the slippery cobblestone stairs from the castle I atlast made it to the stables. There was a large brown stallion already waiting for me, its black mane lovingly combed back perfectly and a note attached to the side of its black saddle. I carefully opened the envelope to reveal a contract, which was short and just disclosed some of the terms I would have to follow on my mission. I only skimmed it since it appeared to be the same as the one I had signed last time. Picking up the pen inside of the envelope, I signed the letter and placed it on top of a nearby hay bale, as it had instructed me to.

Smiling a bit out of excitement for my upcoming quest, I mounted the large horse. Deciding to name the animal, I settled for the word Thunder, as it seemed to fit such a large and sturdy-looking creature. I tugged at his reins and he slowly walked backwards, intrigued with the person that now sat on his back. Thunder whinnied a little bit before obeying me further and turning so that he was facing out the door. With one more tug, sharper this time, he took off into a trot out of the barn.

The soft grass swished as my horse picked up his speed to a canter, eager to be out and more free. It was a nice summer day unlike the previous few, only blue skies chirping birds. A few dew droplets still remained from the morning and the ground was damp because of the rain. Flowers were blooming everywhere and now my horse was fully into a gallop.

I hit the wooden path a little while later, the stallion had slowed down ever so slightly but it wasn't really affecting our pace. The oak slabs stretched and wound throughout all of the chaos, enduring so much pain and war. Dream had blown up L'manburg once already, a shot with an arrow triggering a hidden TNT trap. But still the citizens persisted and branched even further off of the main smp.

I moved my body to the left and my horse swung with me, wandering off of the path just as I had hoped and we entered close L'manburg territory. The nation was now visible, its tall black and yellow walls towering over me and Thunder. Intimidating, but it wouldn't hold back our army, especially with the information I was about to get from spying.

A soft breeze blew, making my H/c hair fly and swish in the wind. The entrance to the nation was heavily guarded, three people with axes and shields standing in front of the massive gate.

I got off of Thunder and approached the closest person, who I recognized to be Fundy (Not Wilburs son in this story) , the fox hybrid.

"Hello!" I greeted kindly with a wave of my hand, "I was wondering if-" But I got interrupted.

"Whatever it is, go away. If you're not aware," The fox narrows his eyes," Whoever you are, we are in the middle of a war."

"Well that's exactly it!" I persisted, "I want to aid, or assist you in the war!" I said warmly.

Fundy sighed, "Stay here and don't move, let me go get Wilbur," he then grumbled something to himself and left the post. Two other guards were standing there, one I recognized to be a young boy named Tubbo, the other I wasn't sure about. She had pink hair and seemed much nicer than the fox had been, so I approached her next and offered my hand.

"Hi," I said a bit awkwardly, "I think I came off too strong."

She giggled, "No that's just Fundy for you. Say, I don't believe we've met, I'm Nihachu, but you can call me Nikki!" She seemed much more cheerful then I would assume for somebody in a crisis of war and threat of death.

"My name is U/n, but you can call me Y/n! It's lovely to meet you Nikki!" I was glad my mission was starting to make progress.

At last she shook my hand and then turned to Tubbo and whispered something. The young soldier nodded his head, then glanced towards me, still a bit untrustworthy.

"I can get you in, follow me," He opened the gate and led me into the nation. I hadn't been here before and it was full of people hard at work, building or preparing for war.

I saw Fundy and two other people talking up high next to a van, one was Tommy and the other was Wilbur; the two main culprits of this battle.

"That's her," I heard Fundy say, "I guess Tubbo brought her in here."

My horse trailed slowly behind me, as I hadn't wanted to leave him alone and for fear they would attack I needed to flee.

"Nice horse," Tommy commented before him and Tubbo scurried off somewhere.

"Uh," I stared at the tall man standing in front of me, his dark brown hair waving back and a long trench coat almost touching the ground, ifr there was one thing he screamed it was presentable, "I've come here to join your nation, I have nothing to offer except for myself and my skills. Like you I believe we should be allowed to be free, thus why I've come here to join."

He seemed deeply impressed, "We do have an extra house..." He murmured quietly to himself.

I held my breath, this was the moment to make it or break it. My quest, my mission for Dream would be nothing but a mere memory if I came back a failure, in fact I would be dead.

"How do I know you're not a spy?" He questioned me, and I couldn't hold back my disappointment.

"I've only been alive on this server for a week, barely even getting news of your war," I babbled my excuse.

"Alright," He forestalled, "What's your name?"

"Y/n," I merrily responded, this was the moment.

"Ok fine, you can join."
