Chapter 7: The Cold of Night

There was a long silence before either of us spoke up.

"I can take the floor," I told him, hating the fact that he had already given me his coat earlier.

"No no! I'll be a gentleman and take the floor!" He pleaded.

This arguing continued, both of us insisting the other to take the bed before we both burst out into laughter.

"What if we share it?" Wilbur asked nervously, not wanting to press my boundaries.

"Stay focused on the mission," I told myself, "You can't let these suddenly developing feelings get in the way of what's important!"

"That's fine," I stated, climbing into the bed first and letting him take the small blanket, he at least deserved to have that.

...Timeskip to the morning

I awkwardly clambered over Wilbur's still sleeping body, grabbing some apples from my bag and biting into one. The loud crunch startled Wilbur and with a soft groan he fell out of the bed.

In his morning voice he said, "Ugh it's so early."

Giggling to myself amusingly, I glanced out the window seeing the sun already high in the sky, highly unusual for winter.

"Wil..." I said ominously on purpose, "I think that it's already two."

"Your point?" He grumbled to himself while eating his own apple in silence.

"Won't the rest of L'manburg worry about you?" It was a genuine question, I didn't want them to get suspicious after all.

"Probably not, they usually don't care one way or another," But he seemed concerned.

"Should we head back then?" I questioned.

"Unless you want to run away together and start a family, yes," Wilbur said sarcastically, but causing me to blush a bit.

"Alright alright Mr. Soot, don't be so dramatic about it," I threw a shirt at him, "Change your clothes I'll be outsi-"

Before I could finish my sentence he started changing right in front of me.

"HOLY JESUS WIL!" I exclaimed, then burst out laughing.

He smiled too, "Haha."

330 words! Not my longest, but much longer then my last chapter! I was trying to write 1000 words for this but I'm breaking it up into two parts because my grandma's birthday was yesterday and a lot of other drama haha.
