THE READER IS A FEMALE!

IMAGINE BEING EMMA'S TWIN SISTER WHO WAS ACCIDENTALLY CAST TO A DIFFERENT TIMELINE AND BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT IN NEW YORK WHEN YOU LEARN ABOUT YOUR ROOTS.

It was one of those days. You had crashed to a small group of people, and all your books had flown around the pavement. Fortunately, they were polite enough to pick your books up, and as you met the man's eyes as you were standing up, he and the short-haired woman beside him froze.

"Do we know you?" he asked and you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. Actually, there was something familiar with them when you thought about it, but you couldn't place your finger on why.

You shook your head. "I don't believe we've ever met."

A little boy standing behind them piped up. "Don't you realize? She's your daughter!"

You let out an awkward laugh, thinking the boy made a really weird joke, but as you saw how the woman's eyes filled with tears, your own smile faltered. She stepped forward, and a shaky smile entered her lips, as she took a gentle hold of your face. "Y/N?"

This time you froze - how did she know your name? Your gaze jumped between the two standing in front of you, to the blonde woman standing beside them and the boy who was still grinning at you and back at the woman holding your face and the man beside him.

"Who are you guys?" you backed off a bit, making the woman lose her grasp of your face. You weren't sure if they were a bunch of crazies or if that feeling of familiarity was right - even if it would be impossible. The man, who claimed to be your father, raised his hands to show he means no harm.

"Could we explain ourselves to you?" he asked, and you let out a shaky breath.

"I... I was in foster care all my life... but my parents couldn't be so young, it couldn't-" your voice cut off on it's own. Even when the situation was absurd - even when it made no sense, your instincts screamed at you to listen to them.

So you did. You kept your distance just in case, but you listened. And the more you listened, the more you believed. It was like you were enchanted - they were claiming to be Snow White and Prince Charming - the characters from a fairytale. They claimed you to be a princess, they claimed that the reason you haven't been together was that the Evil Queen had sent you all to the land without magic.

If you had listened to your logical side, you would have laughed and thought they were kidding - that it was a prank from one of your friends. But your heart's voice buried the logic underneath it - and you found yourself believing them. And after they had explained you everything - how they thought you had been lost to the paradox of the worlds and that's why they hadn't found you - you hugged them. You hugged your parents and your sister, and gave a pat on your nephew's head.

"Can I call you Aunt Y/N?" Henry asked and you let out a burst of stifled laughter.

"...I didn't believe I'd be someone's aunt someday. But yeah, sure kiddo."

You needed time to swallow the information you had received, but you knew one thing for sure. You had gotten your family back - something you thought you'd never get.
