The New Girl At Riverdale

Junior year was starting, I didn't know anybody. At all.

But then, this unlikely type of group came up to me. I was a little taken back and confused, "ye-yes, can I help you?" I said stuttering a little bit. I stutter when I'm nervous, and anxious. Although, I'm sure a lot of people do that.

Anyway, they introduced themselves. "Hi, I'm Betty" Betty said as she put her hand out to do a handshake. I gave a slight smile, and shook her hand.

"Hi, my name is Archie" he said with a welcoming smile, and we shook hands.

"Hi there, I'm Veronica" Veronica said with a smile and gave me a hug.

Archie looked over to a boy that had black hair, and a leather jacket on.. "Jug, aren't you gonna say hi to.." he stopped cause I hadn't introduced myself yet.

"Oh yeah, hi, I'm (y/n)" I said with a smile. "jug, this is y/n, aren't you gonna say hi?" archie repeated himself. The boy was just staring at his camera, and waiting to go to class.

"Oh! you've got a camera too! I have one that looks similar! I love it, and I love taking pictures whenever I get the chance! I was maybe even gonna try to sign up for the blue and gold" I said somewhat with confidence.

"oh, that's great! if you do, me and jug can use some help. Jug writes the most amazing articles and stories for our school." Betty says with a little smile.

"alright, I'll definitely look into it." i said to Betty, giving a slight smile.

"Also, I-is he okay?" he hasn't said anything.

Betty looks back at jughead, "oh him? yeah he's okay. today is just one of his off days" Betty said. I nodded my head. "Oh okay" I said uncertain.

"I suppose I'll see you guys in class" I added. they all nodded, except for him.

I then walk into my class, and I see him.

I just take my seat in front of him, all of a sudden I hear someone coming to sit next to me.. it's him.

" I believe I didn't introduce myself earlier when all of my other friends did." he said. I kind of chuckled, "No, no you didn't. and you know thats quite rude right?" I said as a joke. he laughed.

"well, I apologize. I go by jughead" he said smiling.

we got through class, and did a couple of classes after that. then it was time for lunch. When he first got up to go to lunch, I saw that it was a jacket for the serpents. no one knows this, but I already have being a serpent in my blood. I just never bothered to wear a jacket, or do any of the other things besides carry a switchblade.

...okay, maybe sometimes I wear plaid, but only cause I like wearing plaid anyway. My tattoo is on one of my shoulder blades. I didn't want it to be obvious in case someone would try to take it from me.

Anyway, I go to the cafeteria to go eat.

"hey, y/n, sit with us!" Veronica said. I'm not gonna lie, I jumped cause I wasn't expecting anybody to say anything. but then I looked over and everyone was waiting on me and signaling to come over and sit with them.

I hesitated for a minute, then I walked over to them and sat with them. "Hi you guys. What have you guys been up to?" I asked almost stuttering.

"I've just been practicing and focusing on my music" Archie said while raising his guitar a little.

"I've kind of been.. the middle of something with daddy." Veronica said.

"I haven't been doing much, except for maybe help jug with a few mysteries here and there" she chuckled a little.

I just smiled. "Oh okay. That's great you guys. Speaking of, where the hell is jughead?" I asked being confused looking around.

"I couldn't tell you, jug could be anywhere at the moment." Betty kind of chuckles.

I smiled awkwardly. Then I heard the bell that lunch was over, and I started speed walking.

I then went to the room where they do blue and gold, and I found him. He looks up as I opened the door, he saw me and gave me a slight smile, and signaling me to come over.

"hey, so odd question I know, but.." he paused for a second. "are you into mysteries and all that?" he added. I got so excited that I literally started jumping up and down. "Oh my gosh, yes, absolutely. I absolutely love mysteries!" I said with pure joy.

Jughead just started laughing at me, "awesome, cause I think Betty and I may need an extra set of eyes, and someone new to help us with all of this. along with the normal blue and gold articles I write and such" he said.

I smiled, "well, I'd love to join you guys. just let me know when you're about to get started. Also, let me know if you'd like pictures of anything if that would help you out as well." I said back to him.

he smiled, "okay, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks." he said.

"no problem" I said and nodded. 

"oh!" I said in realization. "hand me your phone" I added. 

jughead looked confused, but gave me his phone anyway. I put my number in his phone and handed his phone back to him. 

"there you go, you have my number. text me anytime you want or call. whichever you prefer. I'll answer it" I said smiling before I walked out. 

I waved goodbye at him when walking out .

"wait!" he said as he looked down at his phone.

"yes?" I said.

"you're (y/n) (y/l/n)?" he said as he was curious and shocked.

"yes I am!" I said proudly.

"I think my dad knew your mom for a little while, and if I remember.. she may have been a serpent?" he asked uncertain.

"Oh, that's awesome! I also don't completely remember, she could've been. she doesn't really talk about her past that much." I said as confidently as possible as I didn't want anyone to know about my mom or me being a serpent quite yet. 

"I'll get going, I'll see you later!" I said smiling as I opened the door to leave.

"Yeah, see you later!" he said back as I closed the door.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as my hand was still on the doorknob about to let go of it. 

"that was close"  I said in my head, taking one more deep breath before walking to class.
