The Next Morning

Zepher woke up and looked around his surroundings. It was dark. He then remembered what had happened the day before. He looked on his right side and saw Christina, still sleeping beside him. To him, she was the most precious jewel in his life.

Now she belonged to him. They became one, and he promised to keep it that way. Slowly, Zepher stood and put on his clothing. He also dressed Christina, who still did not wake up. He carried his beloved in his arms and walked out of the room. The halls in the palace were quiet. Usually, his subjects do not stay in the palace; they prefer to go to the human world, trying to find mates for themselves or have fun.

Zepher hated the silence before he met Christina. Now that his mate was beside him, his home would no longer hold silence.

He finally arrived in their room, laid Christina on the bed, and covered her in bedsheets. He walked to the bathroom to take a shower. The warm water hit his entire body, and he loved the feeling of it. Never in his life had he felt satisfied. After he was done, he dried and dressed with a new pair of black jeans and a plain black t-shirt. When he exited the bathroom, Christina woke up.

"Christina, good morning."

She looked at him; a blush came across her face.

Zepher smirked and walked to her and kissed her passionately.

Christina returned the kiss.

Both broke the kiss; their eyes met.

"You should take a shower. I will bring you breakfast," said Zepher.

Christina agreed, and both went their ways.

Zepher walked to the kitchen and ordered some kitchen staff to make pancakes and scrambled eggs. The chefs bowed and went to work. The incubus king waited, and about thirty minutes later, breakfast was complete. Zepher took hold of the food tray and went back to the room. As he entered where he saw the love of his life in a light green dress that covered her legs, her hair was a bit wet, but to him, she looked beautiful. "I brought us breakfast, my love."

"Aw, so sweet of you. I think it is very manly for a man to make breakfast!"

Zepher looked away. "I didn't make it. I will be honest; I can't cook."

Christina giggled. "Sorry about that, who knows, maybe I can teach you. Come on, let's eat!"

Zepher walked towards the bed and put the food tray down; they got their plates and began to eat. As they ate, Christina spoke. "Zepher, how long will we stay here?"

"What do you mean? This is our home now."

"You mean I will stay here?"

Zepher stopped eating and looked at Christina. "Remember love, I am the King of the Incubus, and since you are my mate. You will be my queen."

Christina also stopped eating, "I want to go home, Zepher. I love you, I do, but I feel a bit homesick."

Zepher felt a bit hurt. "I will bring you happiness here; it will take time."

"I know, but I do miss my home."

"I can't do that."

Now Christina felt hurt. "Why not!?"

Zepher did not answer.

Christina stood. "Zepher, I will not be kept as a doll. I want to go visit my world!"

Zepher also stood like the proud King he was. "It's because that dog is there!"

"Zepher, why are you scared of Darell?"

"I am not scared of that mutt."

"Hey, stop calling him that. He has a name."

The incubus king began to feel angry. "Why do you defend him so much!? You love him, don't you!?"

Christina could not believe what she was hearing. She calmed herself down, walked toward him, and tried to touch his face.

However, he stood and moved away from her.

She felt hurt and shocked. Zepher never acted this way with her. He was sweet and loving at first, and now he acted cold.

Zepher walked to the balcony window, turning his back towards Christina, without saying a word.

Both were silent.

Christina felt confused, not knowing what to do or say. She took a deep breath. "Zepher, I know you want me here. If I were in your position, I would probably feel and think the same way. However, I will not apologize for feeling what I feel." Little by little, she got closer to him. She was behind him a few steps more and gently touched his back. "At first, I wasn't sure about you. I was taken away from my home, from everything I have known. How would you feel if you were in my position?"

Zepher still did not look and answer her.

Christina walked next to him at the balcony window and looked at the dark world she was in. She began to wonder about all the time he had been here. "You are an incubus. Tell me the truth; you have slept with many women, married and unmarried?"

She could feel Zepher flinch. "I knew it. Have I ever asked about your sex conquests? No. I know you are an incubus; I know the stories. Did you expect me to be happy in a cage? I am human; I have feelings and thoughts. You showed me that just because you are an incubus, it didn't mean that you don't have feelings. When you made love to me, I felt part of your love. You have my heart and love. Darell will never take it away."

"I was never afraid of the mutt; I feared losing you. True, I have slept with many nameless women. I felt lost and tried to fill the loneliness I had felt. Now that I have you, I never want to let you go. I would die if you left." Zepher turned, and he gave Christina his full attention. "I am possessive of you. I-"

"I understand. Please, let us visit my home, even if it is just for a while. We will come back. I promise."

"Fine. We'll go to the human world but until tomorrow. If that dog tries anything, I will kill him."
