<3rd POV>

Stars glistened in an ombre of colors in the sky as the sun slowly set, casting a warm glow on anything in its path. The trees danced gracefully back and forth, keeping a steady rhythm with the soft breeze. To the unsuspecting eye the world would seem perfect in this exact moment. It would seem as though harmony herself was present, but to the suspecting eye, the ones who sit and observe, anything but bliss would be visible. For they are the ones who know of everyone's struggles, everyone's weaknesses, and strengths. They sleep peacefully after a few restless hours, while their presence hangs above the rest. By sitting back and simply watching, they successfully unlock a cave of victims. One may not even notice the tight grip those hold on them until it's too late to do anything. Unfortunately, sometimes people have to find out the hard way. Once things get messy. That leads us into our first victim of the night, Henry Guerin. A typical athlete, tall, handsome, even nice to an extent, however no one's safe from the twisted game of life. As those with the power sleep peacefully, he lies awake on his bed, engulfed in thoughts.

<Henry's POV>

Music flows steadily throughout the room, muffled by my own lack of attention. Weird how an area I've called my home for so long can seem so strange, so different. I advert my gaze to the large mirror that sits in the corner of my room, taking in all of my features. My brown hair sits there perfectly, almost too perfect, and my clothes are loose on my body. To most I would look attractive, I look attractive to myself, so how did I allow myself to fall victim to such monstrosities? If I could go back just a week, I would have done everything differently. I wouldn't have allowed myself to be so vulnerable, so helpless. Most importantly, I wouldn't have gone along with Alex.

<Flashback, a week earlier>

The sound of the bell ringing signaled throughout the classrooms and hallways, letting any late student know that their time was up. Our teacher hadn't been back yet so being the dumb children we were, we had decided to get up and mingle. I was standing near the white window frame along with two of my friends, Samuel and Alex. They talked about useless things to me, but I still managed to get a word in every now and then, as a way to show respect. Their conversation was cut short when another one of our classmates, Chloe, walked by. She was beautiful with her short brown hair, yet Alex still found ways to mess with her.

"Yo fag," he had called out, causing her to stop walking and turn around.

"Excuse me?" She asked as she turned around, now fully facing him.

"Hey, come on," Samuel had tried to step in, although Alex just pushed him back. Samuel stumbled back a little bit, but soon caught himself and just stared.

I made no move to interfere in the situation, and I soon leaned back onto the wall.

"Hey everyone," Alex stated, turning towards the entire class. He pushed Chloe to the right, successfully allowing him to gain the attention of everyone.

Lucky for me, Chloe had managed to slightly bump into me, causing her to stare at me with desperation. She wanted me to stop Alex's act of public humiliation, but I shook my head no. There was no way I would do that, but I truly did feel sorry for her. The way that her face fell as the entire class turned to stare made me feel an ounce of pity.

"Fag," someone called out, although I never found out who.

This caused a chain reaction of cruel comments to be made, and pretty soon small tears began to find their way down Chloe's face, and to the bottom of her chin. There they dropped down and landed on her clenched fists, which were slightly rested in front of her.
