"Mama?"

"MAMA!"

The cold snow was freezing my legs to the ground as I cried for Mama. Where was she? She said to stay here like a good girl a while ago.

After what seemed like forever, my raw throat gave out. I croaked out cries for help, but no-one came. I crawled over to a small hole in a cliff I had wandered to. It was too small to fit in, so I curled up outside. My long furry tail covered my nose while I tried to sleep.

I woke up to the sharp cold of frostbite all over my body.

"Mama?"

My call feebly went out across the snow. Then I remembered she left.

I could hardly move and I couldn't feel anything anymore. I decided to just lay there and wait for death.

~The Next Day~ (Kara's POV)

I woke up to noisy pups. They were trampling over each other while calling out for food. I fed them then went out to get food for myself.

There weren't many options for food in the snowy arctic so I made due with a hare. On my way back I noticed a shivering lump of fur. After further inspection I found it was an abandoned pup.

"Poor thing..." I muttered. I carefully picked up the scrawny thing by her scruff and carried her back to the den. My mate was quite startled by the new addition, but helped me get her settled.

"Mama, what's that?" the most confident pup, Aseer, asked.

"Another sister, Aseer."
