"Good afternoon dear students. The votes for our student council has been tallied and the results are in" the principal announces over the speakers. It was 5 minutes before the end of last period, meaning it was either gonna be a council meeting afterwards for me which meant I won or a walk in the halls with an annoying person bragging his win up until I get off the campus. Whispers are heard all through out the classroom. The class literally divided into two, half of which was surrounding me and the other surrounding my rival, Andrew Carter. A few started talking a bit too loud, earning themselves a big "Shh!" from the room.
"For next year's external vice president, the winner is.... Andrew Carter!" Principal Morin cheerfully announced through the intercom. She continues announcing the new council members for the next school year. Then the school bell rings.
Oh my God. This can't be happening.
"My, my, my. Well it seems like I won this time, Margaux." a familiar yet irritable voice says. My head snaps to the direction of the voice to see the one and only Andrew Carter in sight.
"First of all, how many times do I have to tell you, never call me that." I spat at him, only to reply with a chuckle. "Second, I will get that position from you, not through an evil plot but because you don't deserve that damn thing!" I angrily say, standing up abruptly to grab my things and walk out the room. The faster I loose him, the easier it is to deal with.
"Well, Miss Margaux Katrine Samuels, why in such a rush? Hurrying to go home to cry to mommy and daddy how you lost to a very handsome boy even though you know your ugliness just brought you down to the other side of the world?" he snickers as a bunch of kids in our grade start whispering about the fact that two rivals are talking to each other.
"No, no, no, Andrew. That's where you're wrong" I start saying as I turn to face him. "I'm heading home to see if you did something to win" I finish, storming off to my car in the parking lot.
This was going to be a long day, and it was already 4 in the afternoon.

I enter the house as quiet as possible. The longer nobody realizes I'm home, the better.
Before reaching my room, someone blocks my way. That someone happens to be my brother.
"Mom is waiting in her office. You should start using that memory of yours to recall that we had a camera installed in the porch. No matter how quick and quiet you come in, Mom is still gonna see it" he says with an annoyed tone in his voice. "Idiot " I hear him say
"Ok thanks Todd" I mutter to him as I sluggishly make my way to my mom's office down the hall.
I knock on the door thrice before opening the door slightly just to pop my head in and say " You called for me, Mom?" It was a practice she made me do all the time.
"Yes dear, have a seat. I'll just finish this" she tells me, not bothering to look up from her laptop.
I take a seat on the chair in front of her desk and look around the office. The bookshelf with only has 7 books suddenly becomes interesting now.
"Margaux dear, your father and I have heard that you lost the elections to that Andrew Carter. Explain" she addresses me with a harsh and disappointed tone.
"Mom, its just that, you know, that, uhm its kinda hard to explain-" I try to reason out before she cuts me off "You are a Samuels for Christ's sake! Samuels are supposed to be above those no good of an excuse clan of Carters! What do you think the candidates on the same campaign party as your father will say when his daughter can't even win a school election! If you wanted us to ever be proud of you, you have to stop lazing around and work harder because to tell you honestly, I am currently ashamed to be known as a failure's mother because you make it seem like we did nothing for you" she lectures me.
