"Left early. Will be back home by nine," was all the note left for Ren had written down on it, however it seemed to be enough for even himself to shiver. He looked out the window for a second to check if his parents were truly gone. There was no car so he just hoped for them not to be testing him this time around.

"Ren, are you okay? You've been staring at that piece of paper for five minutes now, you'll be late to school at this point." Morgana informed, snapping Ren out of his thoughts in the process.

"Oh, yeah, you're right." Ren agreed, tearing his eyes away from the note.

"Why aren't they here to see you anyway?" Morgana wondered, raising a paw.

"I haven't the slightest clue" Ren answers. Morgana just feels as if that's a lie, he wouldn't have stared at that note otherwise, right? And did Ren shiver? Was it cold? Morgana won't get the answer out of him it seems. He doesn't want to pry.

"I'm off then," he announced, taking his bag from the table.

"Huh? Am I not going with you?" Morgana asks, surprised.

"Well... The school isn't exactly the most lenient, plus everyone knows me from a year ago, and now they still think I'm a criminal. If you thought Shujin was bad, I rather you not come to Hermelin. You understand, don't you Morgana?" Ren responded, stopping himself from rambling to the cat.

"Oh, I see..." Morgana replies, somewhat disappointed. He leaps up off the table and starts heading upstairs.

"I'll be waiting for you, Joker." Ren smiles at Morgana's farewell, He hasn't heard someone call him that in nearly two months now.

"Mona, the metaverse is long gone you know," the black-haired guy replies, although it seems it was to deaf ears, as there was no audible response after that was said.

Ren pushes the door open. Mikage-cho once again, he thinks, a bleak town where everyone knows each other regardless of who exactly it is. He starts walking to school, which ends up turning to pacing once he sees the time. His house isn't too far, so 10 minutes of straight pacing and he'd make it. If only Shujin prepared him for speed walking in place of running...

Its fine he made it to the faculty office in time, not without weird glares, but Shujin already took care of his fear of that. The room was just as he remembered. A room of files and computers, void of colour.

"Ren Amamiya. Missing from school for a year due to legal issues," he heard from right in front of him. His homeroom teacher, the same as always.

"Miss Amagiri," Ren greeted, facing her.  Of course she looked the same as always, nothing ever changes it seems.

"The principal has told me to inform you that no transgression will be looked over during your last year here. Unfortunately for you, your good grades from your stay here will not sway him. I have at least tried to allow you some leniency, but my efforts were in vain." She turns away, "I trust you understand that I will follow the principals orders just as he tells me them, correct?"

Ren nods, acknowledging her efforts as your old homeroom teacher. This'll be a tough year, huh? Not just in school he thinks, his whole neighbourhood still believes in the validity of his already tarnished criminal record. Thank you, Sae.

"Amamiya, enough with your spacing out and get to homeroom. It's the same class as before, class C if you've already forgotten." Miss Amagiri said, breaking Ren out of his thoughts.

Ren nods again before walking out of the faculty office and up the stairs to floor three. He breathes a sigh of relief when he sees no one in the hallways, no one to see and stare at him. He soon reaches class 3-c and slides the door open.
