The Day Off

YN: Alright, this should be the right movie theatre...

I looked around to see if Kyoka was here yet, and she wasn't.  I sat down, and looked at my phone.  I'm all over the news now.  Countless titles like "American Comes in First Place at UA Sports Festival" and "Son of Number One American Hero Wins UA Sports Festival".  Jeez, is it that big of a deal?

Kyoka: Hey, YN, hope you weren't waiting to long...

YN: Huh?  Oh no, it's fine, I just got he-

I looked up and was stunned.  She looked beautiful.

Kyoka: You okay?

YN: S-sorry, just lost my train of thought.  You look good.

She blushed, and we walked into the theatre.

YN: So, what do you want to watch?

Kyoka: Hmm... What about the new Jurassic World movie?

YN: Sure, I heard it was good.

We walked over to the concessions to get popcorn.  We ordered and she went to grab her wallet, but I grabbed mine first.

YN: No.

Kyoka: But I-

YN: No.

Kyoka: Really?

I smiled and nodded my head, paying for both of us.  She just pouted.

Kyoka: You're a pain in the ass, you know that YN?

I grinned, and she gave a light smirk.

YN: Come on, you know you like it.

She blushed and we walked towards the auditorium, sitting in our seats as the movie started.  About halfway through, I felt Kyoka grab my hand, and I looked over at her.  She was blushing dark red, and trying to keep a straight face.  She noticed me looking and let go, but I grabbed her hand again.  She looked at me and smiled, putting her head on my shoulder.  We sat like that for the rest of the movie.  When it ended, we walked out of the theatre and I realized we were still holding hands.  I instinctively let go, blushing.

YN: Sorry.

She smiled and grabbed my hand again.  I chuckled and we walked into town.

YN: So... what next?

Kyoka: I know a good burger place...

YN: Oh, thank God.  I haven't been able to find one since I got here!

She giggled at my response, and led me to a diner nearby.  We sat down and ordered our food.

Kyoka: Can I pay for this?  I have to buy something today, or I'll feel bad.

YN: Come on, it's on me.  I don't mi-

I stopped short, noticing her jacks pointed at me.  She smiled at me.

YN: You're evil, y'know that?

Kyoka: Come on, you know you like it.

She did NOT just throw my joke back at me.

YN: Can't deny that.  How about this, we can get ice cream after this, and you can pay for that.

Kyoka: Deal!

Our food came, and it was the best burger I'd ever had.  I paid the tab, and we went across the street for ice cream.  I ordered Cookie Monster (best flavor of ice cream, fight me) and Kyoka ordered rocky road.

YN: Oh, I get it, because you like rock music!

Kyoka: Shut up, idiot.

I laughed at my joke, and she just smirked.  We got our ice cream, and sat down.

YN: Hey, I never really asked any of the others, but... what was it like?  At the USJ?

Kyoka: Well to be honest, Kaminari, Yaomomo and I had it pretty easy compared to some of the others.  We got stuck in a rocky area and beat up most of the villains.  Kaminari got caught and held hostage, but Snipe saved him.  The best part of the experience was that we got to find out what happens when Kaminari short-circuits.

She imitated his "whei" mode, and we both laughed.

YN: Great, now I have to see this.

Kyoka: Don't worry, it'll happen eventually.

We finished our ice cream and left.  I walked her back to her house, and we stopped at the sidewalk.

Kyoka: Thanks for today YN.  I had a blast.

YN: Yeah, me too.  Today was one of the most fun days I've ever had, at least since...

I stopped myself, not wanting to talk about... him.

YN: Never mind.  The point is, today was awesome.

She smiled, and I turned to head home, but she grabbed my shoulder.

Kyoka: Wait!

I turned around, and she kissed me on the cheek.  She let go, and smiled at me.

Kyoka: Later, YN.

She turned and ran through the door of her house, leaving me on the sidewalk, stunned.

YN: That... just happened.

I grinned and left, walking towards my apartment, thinking about everything that had happened over the past few days.  But one thought stood out from all the others: I'm in love with that girl.
