Henny had an appointment a few hours outside of Beacon Hills, so she got to skip a day of school. It's not like she could have missed something she doesn't already know. She's just on her way back when her phone starts to ring. Stiles' name flashes across the screen and she picks up with a sigh. "What do you want, Stilinski? I don't really have the time to talk right now."
"Derek was at the school and he was asking for you, but you weren't there, so now I'm driving him around town while Scott is trying to find the bullet, but Derek insisted that I call you", the boy rambles. "What bullet? Why would you need to find a bullet unless- Stiles, was Derek shot?", Henny panics. "Yes, Derek was shot. He said it was a different kind of bullet, with wolfsbane. And he also said that if Scott doesn't find the bullet then he will die. So now we're driving around town because apparently I can't take him to his own house like this."
Henny clenches her jaw. Why out of all the days did Derek have to get shot on the single one when she isn't in town. "Stiles, Derek is right. Bringing him to his house is like walking into a trap. Just make sure to stay clear of any and all Argents and try to find somewhere safe. I'll be there as soon as I can, but it will take a few hours. Scott needs to find that bullet for Derek to have any chance at survival. Put him on for a second."
She hears the commotion as Stiles hands the phone over to Derek. "Listen to me, Wolfie. I will be with you as soon as possible. But I need you to fight it for as long as you can. Try to slow down your heartbeat. That way the poison should spread slower. Can you do that?" "I'll try", he groans. "That's good. I really wish I could stay on the phone, but I have to get driving. Just, whatever happens, promise me one thing." "Anything." Henny nods. "Don't forget what I told you. You have a strong heart. Trust it." There is a moment of silence. "You can't forget your promise either. You said I would see you soon." Henny smiles and hangs up.
"Don't worry, Wolfie. I'll make it back to you. Even if I have to break every speed limit in the State to do so." She gets back onto her bike, leans forward as flat as she can and accelerates.
*Derek's pov*
"What am I supposed to do with him?", Stiles complains into the phone. "Take him somewhere. Anywhere", Scott responds in a harsh whisper. "And by the way, he's starting to smell", Stiles keeps complaining. Derek glares at him while he adds, "Like death." Derek doesn't bother to listen into what Scott is saying any further. After all, Henny did tell him to slow down his heartbeat and conserving his energy will help that, right?
"What about your boss?", Stiles asks after a while. Then he sighs and hands the phone over to Derek. "You're not gonna believe where he's telling me to take you", he states. Derek grabs the phone and asks, "Did you find it?" "How am I supposed to find one bullet? They have a million. This house is like the freaking Walmart of guns", Scott complains. "Look, if you don't find it, then I'm dead. Alright?" "I'm starting to think that wouldn't be such a bad thing", Scott scoffs.
Derek tries his best to stay calm and keep his heart steady. "Then think about this. The Alpha called you out against your will. He's gonna do it again. Next time, you either kill with him or you get killed. So if you wanna stay alive, then you need me. And here's something else. If you let me die, Henny will make Lacrosse hell for you. Find the bullet." He hangs up without another word.
"Why is Henny so important in this?", Stiles demands. "You basically ordered me to call her and threatened to kill me if I didn't. And now she's the reason we can't let you die. What is your deal, man?" Derek stays silent. He sure as hell isn't going to talk about his blooming feelings with a hyperactive teenager. Especially since he isn't sure about them himself yet. Though the tick in Henny's heartbeat every time they get close does give him hope that she likes him as well. "Whatever, don't tell me."
