Jack's POV

I walked into school the next day and immediately started looking for Paige.

"Hey, Jack!" I turned to see who was calling my name and it was Jack Johnson.

"Hey man, what's up." I said, still looking around for Paige.

"Dude, who are you looking for?" a knowing look came across Johnson's face. "Ooooh you're looking for Paige aren't you." he smirked.

"Shut up dude, I just want to talk to her. We all used to be such good friends, ya know? I miss that." I told Johnson. "And I feel bad for her, because of Brooke and everything. I want to be there for her."

"You like her. Like a lot. I can tell."

"No I don't dude, we've talked like maybe three times in the past few years."

"She's gotten really hot, I don't blame you for liking her. And she's your type."

"Whatever, man." Johnson and I both laughed. Just then, I saw Paige walk in the school doors. "There she is, see you later." I told Johnson and hurried down the hall to talk to Paige.

Paige's POV

"Paige!" I turned around and saw Jack walking towards me.

"Hey." I gave him a weak smile.

"So I realized last night that we have the same first period, so we can walk together." He is just now figuring this out?

"Yeah, we've had that class together all year." I rolled my eyes. I could tell by the look on his face he felt guilty.

"You're right, I'm sorry I didn't talk to you sooner. I've been an asshole to you."

"No you haven't, we haven't really been friends for a long time now. It's honestly fine." I did kind of want Jack to feel bad for ignoring me, but at the same time I felt bad making him feel guilty. He gave me a shy smile and started to walk. "We better get going. Don't want to be late." Jack smiled at me.

After class, Jack and I parted ways. "See you at lunch?" he asked me, his tone hopeful.

"Yeah." I smiled and gave him a small wave, heading to my next class. The next few periods dragged on, and I found myself thinking about Jack. I was so confused on why he started talking to me and trying to rebuild our friendship now, it was so random. I'm glad he did, I have missed him and everyone else, but why now? I want to ask him, but I don't know if I should or even how to. There's really no good time to ask something like that.

The bell signaling that it's time for lunch finally rang, and I was actually excited to go to lunch for once. When I got to the cafeteria, Emily saw me and smiled at me, waving.

"Hey! Want to go grab some food?" she asked.

"Yeah." I softly smiled at her. We made small talk while in line, and it brought back memories. Emily used to be one of my best friends, and I've really missed her. I've really missed having any friends at all.

"So me and Jack were hanging out last night and guess what!" Emily exclaimed.

"What?"

"He could not stop talking about you. He kept saying how much he missed being friends with you, and he doesn't know why he would've ever lost touch with you. He said that it's the dumbest thing he's ever done and he really regrets letting your friendship go. He's like in love with you."

"I highly doubt that." I said with a chuckle.

"Trust me, Jack and I have been best friends since forever. I know when he likes a girl, and he definitely likes you. He also told me he can't stop thinking about you, and that you're so beautiful."

"He really said all that?" my stomach fluttered and I smiled.

"Yeah, and so much more, but I got bored listening to him ramble on and on about you so I kinda tuned him out. No offense." Emily told me, laughing.

"None taken." I told her, laughing along with her. We walked back to the lunch table and everyone else was seated, eating their lunch. I took the seat next to Jack again, and as soon as I sat down Jack looked over at me and smiled. I smiled back and a
slight blush crept onto my cheeks, so I turned away hoping Jack didn't notice.

Lunch flew by, and Mallory and I walked to class again together. She kept telling me about how Jack was looking at me some special way, in a way he didn't look at anyone else. I laughed it off, telling her she was making things up, but it actually gave me butterflies thinking about Jack having any interest in me.

When class was finally over, Mallory and I walked out to the parking lot together. After we had parted ways to go to our cars, I heard a familiar voice call my name. I turned around and saw Jack jogging towards me.

"Hey! I just wanted to let you know that all of us are hanging out tonight, and you're more than welcome to come."

"Yeah, sure." I smiled.

"I was hoping you'd say that, I'll text you the details. See you later tonight." Jack said, and winked at me. He then walked towards his car, leaving me standing there smiling like an idiot.
