Jack's POV

I texted Paige my address and everything else she would need to know for tonight and then went home and started getting everything ready. Paige hasn't been to my house in ages and I really want to impress her.

"Jack, is that you?" my mom called from upstairs.

"Yeah, mom!" I yelled back, as I saw her coming down the stairs.

"How was school?" she smiled and walked over to give me a hug. I hugged her back and replied "It was actually pretty good." I smiled to myself.

"Are you cleaning?" my mom asked, looking around the room. She was clearly surprised.

"Yeah, I was gonna have a few friends over tonight if that's ok?"

"Of course, as long as a few friends really does mean just a few friends."

"It'll just be Jack J, Sam, the rest of the guys, and Emily and the girls. Oh and you remember Paige, right?"

"Paige as in Paige the girl you've been in love with since preschool? How could I forget her?" my mom laughed.

"First of all, I am not in love with her and I never have been. Second of all, she is coming here tonight so I would appreciate if you don't say anything like that to embarrass me. Please, mom."

"Well since you said please, my lips are sealed." she replied, acting like she was locking her lips and throwing away the key. "Thank you." I said while rolling my eyes. I went back to getting everything ready and waited for everyone to show up.

Paige's POV

My phone buzzed signaling I had a text message.

Jack Gilinsky: hey, this is jack! my address is 219 oak lane and you can come at 6 or anytime after. see you soon (:

I was surprised at how excited I felt to hang out with all of my old friends. I thought I would be somewhat reluctant without Brooke by my side, but I was feeling just the opposite. I couldn't wait to spend some time with Jack and everyone else. I also felt guilty for being excited, because Brooke wasn't here to be with us. I tried to push the guilt aside, but it was always in the back of my mind, no matter how hard I tried. We always used to get ready for parties together. It's the little things like this that make me miss her the most.

It took me at least half an hour to pick out an outfit because I wanted to look perfect tonight. I did my makeup and hair in record time and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked pretty good if I do say so myself. I was starting to feel a little bit nervous since I haven't hung out with anyone in months. Add Jack Gilinsky to the mix and my nerves go through the roof. I took a deep breath, grabbed my purse, and walked out to my car. I got in and headed to Jack's house.

Once I got there, I got out of my car and looked at the house. Everything looked exactly the same as it had the last time I was here, which was years ago. I slowly walked up to the front door and knocked. I heard some rustling behind the door and a faint "Shit." I laughed quietly to myself as Jack opened the door, looking a little frazzled. He then smiled a huge smile at me, and I couldn't help but smile back. "Hey! I'm so glad you could make it!" Jack said to me, pulling me in for a hug. I was a little surprised, but I hugged him back. "Thanks for inviting me."

"Of cour-" Jack was cut off by Mrs. Gilinsky, "Paige, is that you!" She walked into the room with a big smile on her face, and she too gave me a bear hug. "It is so good to see you!" she said, pulling away.

"You too! It's been so long."

"Too long. Well, come on in. Make yourself at home!" she told me, walking away from the door with Jack and me following her.

"Paige, you have grown up to be such a beautiful young lady. No wonder my son can't stop talking about you." Katherine said. I looked over at Jack, whose face was as red as a tomato, and couldn't help but laugh. "Thank you." I replied.

"Anyway, Jack your father and I are going out tonight, so don't do anything stupid, okay?"

"Okay, mom." Jack rolled his eyes but smiled. Katherine walked over to Jack, gave him a hug, and kissed him on the cheek. "Have fun tonight, mom." he said looking down at her and smiling. She smiled back and then walked upstairs to finish getting ready, I assumed. "Paige." she called out to me when she was halfway up the stairs.

"Yes?"

"It really is so good to see you." I nodded and smiled at her, and she continued her ascent.

"So when is everyone else coming?" I asked Jack since I was the only one here. He laughed and replied "I'm not sure. I told them all 6 just like I told you, but they're not very punctual people." I laughed and tried to act like us being alone didn't make me nervous, but I was freaking out on the inside. Jack and I haven't hung out by ourselves in a really long time, and I really don't want to screw anything up.

"Wanna go down to the basement and watch a movie or something until they get here?"

"Yeah, sure." I followed Jack down into the basement. We agreed on watching 21 Jump Street and couldn't stop laughing throughout the whole movie. Every so often, I would catch Jack scooting closer to me, but I didn't mind. I turned my head to look at him, and he was already looking at me. Our faces were inches apart, and Jack started to move in closer. I could feel my cheeks heating up as I started to lean in, too. The reality of what was happening suddenly hit me and I pulled away. "Um, sorry. I uh, um didn't mean to-" Jack was blushing like crazy.

"It's ok." I was freaking out on the inside. We both awkwardly turned back to the movie until we heard the doorbell ring.

Please read to the end of the authors note (:

So just to clarify a few things: Jack and Paige have had feelings for each other since like forever and they both knew that they liked each other but they were such good friends that they didn't want to ruin it (I know I didn't really go into much detail about their past in the story but I just wanted to clear that up). They're in that same position now.

Also, I picture Paige as Blake Lively/Serena from Gossip Girl but I picture her shorter and just smaller in general than Blake is in real life. I picture Sophia Bush as Brooke from One Tree Hill during her senior year in high school on the show.

I know this chapter still wasn't very exciting but I worked really hard on it! I really want this story to take off because I've spent a lot of time and effort on it, so please share with your friends, comment and vote if you like it! Thanks for reading (:
