This was a poem that I had to do for a English assignment based on my experiences with Tetris, I hope you enjoy it :)
One day I saw an Xbox begging for attention
As I walked over there I sat, hearing the ding on the xbox as it turns on
And grasped the controller in front of me
I am presented at the home screen as I go to my game library
I didn't feel like playing something like Call of Duty or Minecraft
But I had a game that I originally had for my PC but my PC couldn't process it,
That game was called Tetris
--------------
After a few days, I launch the game for the very first time
I already knew what to do, I got used to the controls pretty swiftly
But I could only reach somewhere to 50K, then I top-out, I try again and again,
All I could think to myself was "Why couldn't I find a game like this sooner..."
--------------
It has been 3 months now and I still find myself playing around 15-20 rounds of Tetris
I have improved sightly and I have made my very first 250K run,
But I still build pretty slow, but I will do better as months fly by,
As I continued playing, All I could think to myself was "BOOM, Tetris!"
--------------
It has been 6 months now and I still play the game Tetris
I have improved largely compared to 3 months ago
And I have made my very first 500K run
My building speed has improved almost vastly
And I have unlocked a new Marathon map, called 1989
Which was the one with the Tetris theme in it,
All I could think to myself was "Wow, the music sounds so good for such a game..."
--------------
9 months now and I STILL play many rounds of Tetris
I have improved vastly and I have hit not just one, but two milestones on this game
One of those milestones is a 1M run and the other is a 3M run,
My building speed is improved slightly but not as close to where the pros are at
But All I could think to myself was "will get there someday..."
-------------
11 months and yes, you know it, I still play Tetris
I haven't played yet today but I may update you on how I do
Almost a one year veteran of Tetris and I still remember how I started
-------------
I now play both the classic and the modern version
But I am not as good at the classic version as I am on the modern version
But I am willing to try
All I could say to myself was "What a fantastic game..."
-------------
But I now realized that Tetris wasn't just the game that I am fond of enjoying
But the game that also saved me from the gruesome hands of my mental state.
