After stalling for admittedly longer than just one snack, I finally re-gained the courage to perform the spell on the necklace, hopefully this time to reveal what happened to Kimi, and the details of whatever it was so I didn't accidentally make it worse.

"Fabula," I muttered, this time touching her newfound necklace. The story started to play out instantly.

I was a powerful Chernobog for my whole life. Chasing prey was easy, but I wanted more. I longed for power beyond my current reach. Therefore I searched far and wide to come across a great sorcerer who taught me the spell of backlash; "Vindicta". Upon a specific circumstance, he said, the spell would initiate and perform a spell on those who I had touched with magic. Even those who were deceased. I decided that my death would be the cause. The effect on those poor specimens who had been touched by my magic would be turned into perfect bone china dolls, sitting with their heads on their knees, arms wrapped around, mourning me against their will. A necklace of black zirconium and red gems. The only way to break the curse would be with powerful magic mixed with utmost desire for savior. After a year there will be no going back from it. A perfect backlash, a perfect curse.

When I returned from the dream, I sat in place for a moment. Just absorbing information. Not wanting to lose a single speck. I spoke to myself, repeating some of the words. Those creatures are called Chernogs, Kimi is under a backlash curse, and has to be desired to come back, from being a bone china doll. The words floated in my head when I wasn't saying them aloud. I started to get up to go and sit with Kimi. I knew I should transform her back but I had very little energy left from the spells I had just performed. I needed to rest. For real this time. Besides, it was now getting very dark and i wanted to start a fire to prevent creatures from drawing too near.

I started on the fire, making it purposefully close to Kimi so i could protect her as she sat.

I also set up the bed and climbed in, it felt lonely without Kimi. I had gotten so used to her warmth, her cuddles. Her talking to me when she noticed something as we drifted off to sleep. It was hard to fall asleep without her, like the night before. This time i had no choice but to fall asleep without her though.

I hope I can change her back.
