Dream a dream

I woke up at 5AM with my alarm clock blaring. I hit the snooze and rolled over sighing all of the tiredness out of my body. I rolled out of bed and onto my feet and strolled over to my light switch, switching it on. I look towards the mirror hanging on my wall next to me displaying my tall, thin body.

I dragged my feet over to my dresser pulling out my leggings and a tank top stuffing them into my dance bag. if it were any other day I would usually be delighted to go to dance rehearsal but not today. I stole a glance at my calender showing todays date; February 1st. My sister's birthday. I guess most people would be happy if it were their sister's birthday but that doesn't include me. My sister, Bekah, left me 9 years ago.

*FLASHBACK*

"Bekah can you teach me to cheer?" I pleaded to her jumping up and down. "Of course!" Bekah laughed out as we walked into the kitchen. "Bekah will never teach you to cheer Elyssa! Don't you know you can't do anything! You can barely even dance!!" our mum yelled out. I ran away to my closet hideaway leaving the door partially open. "Mum! why don't you back off! you and Dad don't know anything! you're both drunks!" Bekah yelled to our mum. I heard an exaggerated gasp and a large crack, like someone being smacked. I slowly creeped out of the closet to see Bekah running to her room, and Mom running to leave. I slowly caught up the steps and walked past Bekah's room to hear her crying. I knocked but no one answered so I walked to my room and fell asleep on the carpet.

*END FLASHBACK*

I quietly walked down the hall past Bekah's room and stopped for a moment only to keep going. I slowly crept down the stairs trying down to wake my aunt. As I made it to the door I pulled on my shoes. "Dance?" I heard somebody question. I turned around to see Louis, my cousin, more of a friend actually. "Uh, yeah... see you later Louis." I said opening the door. "Be careful..." he says as I shut the door ready for my 4 block walk.
