POV: Outside View (1985)

"Hi, Maddie!" 5 year-old Nick Carter says to his best friend since birth, Madeline Jane. "Heyo, Nicky!" "You ready?" he asks, excited. "Yeah! Let's go!" The 2 kids run off. "Be sure to be home before dark!" their mothers yell after them. They didn't pay much attention. Nick takes Madiline's hand, and they run down the lane until they get to their secret spot. It's not really a secret, but they like to pretend. It's the old oak bridge that's been in the same place since 1960, when it was built. It overlooks the Tampa Bay dock. "Where do you think they go?" Maddie asks curiously looking at the boats.. "I don't know. Who do you think is on them?" She thought for a minute. "Maybe it's a mermaid-pirate-princess." she says. "Ok, that makes sense. Look, that one is coming in!" Nick says pointing at a beautiful boat. "What do you think they discovered? Maybe some treasure?" "Yeah, that makes sense." Maddie says. "Hey, Nicky?" she says, staring off at the boats. "Yeah, Maddie?" "Promise me you'll never leave." she says, holding her pinky out to him. "I promise." he says, interlocking his finger with hers. They run around the meadow, taking turns chasing each other.

POV: Nick (2010)

"Thank you and goodnight!" Brian yells as we bow and head off the stage. "Phew. Great job guys!" I say, wiping the sweat from my brow. "Yeah. It was great!" AJ says. "If I hadn't tripped during the last dance..." Howie says. "You were great." Kevin says. "Thanks, trainwreck." "Whatever. I didn't even hit anyone this time!" he says defensively. "Haha!" I say. "C'mon guys. We gotta get going." Kev says. "Gotta go!" Brian and I say at the same time, in a weird voice. "I should've said no!" Howie joins in. "Someone's waiting for me!" AJ sings. "But I called my girl up and said..." we all sing looking at Kev. He rolls his eyes before singing "Listen baby, I'm sorry. Just wanna tell you..." We're all jamming out, singing the lyrics to 'The Call', but Kev puts a stop to it after the chorus. "Ok, Frick, Frack, Bone, SweetD. Come on. Seriously, we gotta go!" "Tell me why!" I sing. They all groan, and Brian pulls me by the arm to the tour bus.

POV: Madeline (2010)

I walk along the roads I have known for as long as I can remember. I was born and raised here. Beautiful Tampa. I walk past Danny, passed out on the couch surrounded by empty beer cans. I take as many as I can, and head to the kitchen. "I miss you, Mama." I say sadly as I walk past the only picture of my mom in the house. My step-father has always been an angry man, and took it out on my ma. He beat her. So, one day, she decided it was enough. I came home from school that day to find my mama hanging from a noose from the ceiling. After that, he forgot about me, and became a drunk. One time, when I was 16, I had to drive him to the E.R because he overdosed on his drugs. I rose myself. After cleaning up the house, I tiptoed upstairs. "I miss you too, Nicky." I say, to my picture of my childhood best friend, Nick Carter. Look at you, all famous. And I'm stuck here, working 7 jobs a day to pay for Danny to drink himself to death. I pull out my phone, and check the latest news. 'Secrets About The Backstreet Boys, Who's Your Backstreet Boy Soulmate, Backstreet Boys, Backstreet Boys, Backstreet Boys.' I sigh to myself, and grab my mama's old photo album. Three of them are labeled "Maddie and Nick". Pictures of him and I, when we were little.

This is all I have so far, and I'll try to write a chapter every week. Enjoy!
