Akemi was sitting on Ben's roof, watching the stars, as he had more nights than not in the last few weeks. "Have you told him yet?" Akemi shook his head. "We have a pretty good thing going, he and I. I don't want to ruin it." Ben leaned forward, lighting a cigarette. "How do you know you'd ruin it by telling him?" Akemi shrugged. "We spend a lot of time together. If I tell him I like him, and he doesn't like me, it'll make things awkward." Ben chuckled. "Yeah, I suppose it would. Are you ever gonna tell me who it is? The only other person I ever really see you with is Kara. Still don't think she likes me very much." Akemi laughed. "No, no, she does not. She'll come around, though. She thinks you're trying to steal me from her." There was a voice from the ground, and Akemi looked to see who it was. "I do not!" Kara was standing with her arms crossed over her chest. "Come on up, the door's unlocked," Ben said, leaning back. "Come on, tell me who it is, Aki." Akemi rolled his eyes. "Well, he's good-looking. And he's kind. And he's on the football team." Ben looked over, his eyebrows pushed so far up they looked like they were trying to disappear into his curly hair. "Tyreese?" Akemi shook his head.

"Tyler? Surely not Artie? What about Kyle? Or Jeff?" Akemi shook his head. "Nope, definitely not, Kyle isn't my type, and Jeff only has two brain cells left. Too many hits to the head." Ben looked like he was trying to perform mental rocket science, and then his eyes cleared as if he was seeing clearly for the first time. "Is it me, Aki?" Akemi looked down, his wings sagging. He looked over at Ben, then averted his eyes. "Remember... after the birdseed incident a few weeks ago?" Ben nodded. "I told you I wasn't going to cheer for you anymore... what I meant was that I wasn't going to cheer for... you... anymore. When I'm out there, I'm cheering for you." Ben was quiet, too quiet. "I should go. I have to make dinner before Dad gets home from the hospital." He stood and was about to fly away when Ben grabbed his wrist. Before he had a chance to react, and just as Kara was sticking her head out through the open window, Ben was kissing him. At first, Akemi was stunned, his orange eyes wide. They drifted shut as Ben wrapped his arms around Akemi's shoulders. Akemi hugged back, his wings wrapping around them. They broke for air, and Ben smirked sheepishly. "I'm... glad you're cheering for me. I wouldn't want anyone else."

Akemi landed just outside his house and unlocked the front door before stepping in and closing it behind him. He flattened himself against the door, trying to keep his wings from fluttering. "He kissed me," Akemi squeaked. "Ben Keyes kissed me!" He hopped in circles, his wings shaking up and down. He closed his eyes, his cheeks turning red as he remembered the way Ben's eyes had sparkled. His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he fished it out as he walked into the kitchen.

Ben, 9:43 pm
Did you make it home okay? You looked a little unstable

Aki, 9:43 pm
Yeh, wings wanted to go as fast as my heart was beating XD

Ben, 9:44 pm
Were you that eager to get away from me? ;)

Aki, 9:44 pm
No, not at all
I'm
sorry I didn't tell you sooner...
That you're the guy I like

Ben, 9:44 pm
I had my suspicions. I like you, too <3

Aki, 9:45 pm
Can we not tell anyone?
I don't want you to catch any shit from Artie and his crotchfruit

Ben, 9:45 pm
Like I care what they think. I'm not afraid of them.
Besides, their IQ is in the single digits, combined XD
I think I can handle them.
But if you want to keep everything on the DL, I'm okay with that

Aki, 9:46 pm
Thank you. I'll see you tomorrow?

Ben, 9:46 pm
Tomorrow is Saturday, weirdo.
Unless you wanted to come watch the stars with me.
I was planning on taking my bike out to the falls
