The mouse was right in front of me. The pink tail of it was twitching like it knew something was there but didn't know what. I intended to catch it and eat it. As I crept towards it on silent paws, I was keenly aware of my surroundings. How the wind was flowing towards me carrying the delicious scent of mouse upon it; how my belly fur barely touched the cool soft grass beneath me.
I was hunched in a crouch, intended for dogs to catch their prey, (even though I was supposed to be eating dog feed.) but the mouse was tastier than any food Tobi has ever given Andrew and I. The delicious scent of the mouse was irresistible, so I crept on. I was going to catch it. My tail swished from side to side in anticipation of the warm flesh in which I was about to sink my teeth into. I could almost taste the warm sensation of blood and feel the crunch of bones in my jaws. I was slobbering; drooling for the mouse, but then suddenly-
"Brute!" The bark came from behind me. It was probably Andrew. I pounced on the mouse hoping to catch it before it scampered into the forest, but missed. My paws only found solid dirt. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the swish of a tail disappearing into the undergrowth, then nothing. The mouse was gone.
