Burning

Something's burning

Misun threw the covers back from her bed and ran downstairs to the kitchen, Hoseok screaming from the countertop.

"What's happening!" Misun shouted, eyes still tired, but alert. Her feet hit the wooden stairs hard, all seven of the boys looking up at her with wide eyes. "What's burning?"

"Yoongi made me!" Jin whined, pointing at his younger brother. Jin wore Misun's apron, wrapped around him in totally contradicting angels that really made gravity question its existence. But as Misun stared at Jin, she saw the smoke barely sneaking out of the oven.

Misun gasped and pulled Jin back from the oven, "Jin!" She quickly pulled on some oven mitts, the mites that were on the stove, amazing her that they weren't on fire. "Stay back." She glanced at the boys, Hoseok covering Jimin's eyes, his mouth open.

Misun coughed as a cloud of smoke hit her, the hot hair making her want to close the oven again. But she could not leave that frying pan in there. She pulled out the pan, it not even supposed to be in such a hot oven in the first place. Misun caught sight of some black charcoal-looking stuff inside it, making her cough again.

Jungkook and Jimin burst into tears as Misun shut the oven, turning it off as she waved her arm in the air, trying to disperse the smoke. They were probably crying about the smell, and honestly, Misun would too if she was a toddler.

Misun tossed her mitts aside and opened up a few windows, letting the gentle breeze drift inside, replacing the smell of burnt food. With the breeze, she used a towel to break up the smoke clumps in the air, hoping the smell would be gone soon.

"Mimi!" Taehyung whined, throwing his sippy cup at her. "I want mulk!"

Misun grimaced, staring at the grumpy, not-morning person.

Jin took off her apron from his body, wading it in a ball, and then threw it at Taehyung, Namjoon having to steady the boy so he didn't fall off the countertop. "It's milk, Dummy!"

"Mimiiiiiii!" Taehyung had a new thing to whine about, kicking his feet against the counter as Misun picked up Jungkook, Hoseok soothing Jimin. "Jin called me a Dummy!"

"Jin," Misun sighed, wiping Jungkook's tears away. "Please apologize to your brother."

"No."

Misun gave Jin a look. "Now."

"Sorry, Tae-dumb." Jin stuck his tongue out and ran out of the kitchen.

"Hey!" Taehyung shouted, shoving Namjoon out of his way so he could climb onto the stool, then down to the floor. "Get back here Big-Head!"

Misun opened her mouth to call them back, but closed it, figuring she should take care of the cooking mess and the other five boys. "Alright, what happened?" She put a hand on her hip, Jungkook on her other hip.

"It was him!" Jimin gasped, pointing at Namjoon which honestly shocked Misun. Namjoon was usually the happy, easy-going one that never caused conflict.

"Namjoon..." Misun questioned, Namjoon crossing his arms with a 'hmph!' "Why did you try to bake without me awake or supervising? I told you guys last night that I had something new for you all to eat."

"We don't want something new!" Namjoon stuck his bottom lip out in a pout, the mastermind behind this catastrophe. "We want cupcakes!"

I smiled and grabbed a damp washcloth, handing it to him. Namjoon frowned softly, but cleaned the flour from his face. "But you guys like everything I make." I smiled, pinching Namjoon's cheek gently.

Hoseok raised his hand, eyes bright. "Mimi!"

"You don't have to raise your hand." Misun chuckled softly, hanging the wash cloth once Namjoon was done.

"I want to eat your new breakfast thingy!" Hoseok smiled brightly, Misun smiling once she caught sight of his heart-shaped smile.

"No!" Namjoon stood up on the countertop, Misun putting her hand on her hip again. "Two words." Namjoon held up three fingers, wishing he was taller than Misun. "Cup, cakes."

ten minutes later

"Misun this is really good!" Namjoon shoved another handful of the banana bread into his mouth, cupcakes far from his mind at this point.
