"You didn't write any names yet? Interesting indeed, hyuink hyuink!" The voice says.
"Ryuk?" I ask skeptically, not turning around or even stopping.
"Yes?..Wait, how did you know?"
"Is there another world besides this one and the shinigami realm?" I ask quietly while turning a corner.
"I'm just going to ignore how you knew that, but yes there is." He answers.
"And in that world, is there a certain someone called Light Yagami?"
"...Yes." He responds in a stunned voice, "I dropped my other notebook in their world and he picked it up a couple of hours ago."
"You mean the notebook Sidoh lost and you picked up." I correct him, rolling my eyes.
"And tell me, just how did you know that? Are you a mindreader? I've heard about those."
"No, I'm not. Do you see my name?" I ask.
"Of course I do- wait, no, I don't. Impossible! What happened, hyuink?"
"So I was right." I sigh, looking at him over my shoulder, "My parents never named me because they couldn't decide."
They always called me 'Our little girl' or 'Angel', and I remember overhearing them once when they finally narrowed down to three options, Y/n, Andromeda, and Lily, but still couldn't pick one. So I decided to get a fake name, calling myself Jane June.
"That's cool, hyuink!"
"Yeah, I know, makes me immune to the death note power." I nod lightly, "Hey, could you bring me to the other world?" I say, stopping in front of the building my apartment is in and fully turning to him.
"I could, but..." He scratches the nape of his neck.
I raise a brow at him.
"Okay, fine!" He throws his arms in the air, "Let's just hope it doesn't get me in trouble."
"Hopefully not." I show him my signature half-smile, "Now take this, I don't need it, and come in." I throw the notebook at him and he catches it, putting it back in its holder.
I open the front door and, after mounting 3 floors on the elevator, find myself in front of my apartment. I unlock it and step in, Ryuk behind me.
"Do you have any-"
"Apples?" I finish for him, "Follow me."
I make my way to the kitchen, take a big juicy red apple and throw it over my shoulder. Upon catching in, he immediately bites it, enjoying the taste.
"Thanks." He says.
"So, when can we leave for the other world?" I ask, taking a seat on one of the chairs.
"I'm ready any moment, so you decide." He shrugs.
I toss another apple at him, and look at what I'm wearing and at the contents of my pockets; I am dressed in a black bodycon long sleeved t-shirt tucked into black cargo jeans, black converses, and a black jacket; and my pockets bear my phone, earphones, and wallet. That should do.
"I'm ready." I inform the shinigami.
"That's great, but can I have another apple?" He asks with something resembling puppy eyes.
"You can eat all the apples I have, but after that we're leaving." I answer.
"Okay."
And in barely a few minutes, my apples are gone.
"You'll have to hold onto me." Ryuk says after finishing to stuff himself with his favorite fruit, "Otherwise you risk falling off and dying."
"That's quite evident." I stand up, making sure my pockets are zipped up, and hug him tightly.
"Sorry in advance, I know it's uncomfortable for you to be hugged." I tell him as I feel him tense a bit.
"It's okay." He reassures me before taking off and out the window.
Throughout the whole flight I look down, admiring the view. At some point, however, we disappear into a hole and emerge in the shinigami realm. We then enter another passage and find ourselves in the world of Death Note.
Having reached the ground, Ryuk sets me down.
"Hop, and there you are! Fun trip it was, hyuik!" He exclaims.
"Thanks. Am I still the owner of your notebook?" I look up at him.
"Logically you should be." He nods.
"Can I relinquish possession but keep my memories? And I want to be able to see you."
He looks at me for a moment before speaking, "Your requests shall be fulfilled. But only because you're interesting, alright?"
I chuckle, "Deal."
"Then you no longer own the notebook starting from...now! But I'm sure we'll meet again." His expression turns into an amused smile.
"I know we will." I nod, half-smiling.
"Now I have to go find Light. Until later."
"See you." I watch as he takes off and disappears from sight.
Now I finally get a chance to look around me; I am in a calm neighborhood with lined up houses and neat gardens. Not a single soul. I take out my phone and look at the changes: the date became 28th November 2003; all of the information about this world on the internet disappeared; and the news reported the death of Kurô Otoharada. As the sun starts to set, I locate myself on google maps (thankfully the modern technology on my phone stayed unchanged) and head for the Yagami household.
