The car ride was silent, and I could feel the animosity between Sebastian and the driver, who I now realized was his father. Did something happen to them? I ignored my growing curiosity and stared out the window. Where exactly was Sebastian taking me? We haven't been friends long, what if he's sketchy? But, surely not. He's been nothing but nice to me, albeit a little weird.
While in my thoughts, I didn't notice the car stop at a forested area. I felt Sebastian place his hand on my shoulder, and I went back to reality. I got out, giving a thank you to his father, but no one said anything. It was awkward. I looked around me to see tall trees standing over me, leaves swaying softly. Beams of light shone through the canopy, creating a picturesque scene. I turned to Sebastian, to see him smiling at me already. A little taken aback, I asked why we were outside this forest. "I wanted to show you something special, Y/N." He replied. He talked to his father quickly, scheduling a time to come back, and the car drove off. He took my hand and guided me into the forest, on a small, unused trail.
The further we went into the woods, the thicker the trees became, and the less light came through. If Sebastian wasn't with me, I would've been too scared to go any further. The flora became more unruly, and the already small path became unnoticeable. I almost tripped a few times before asking if we were going the right way. He only nodded in response. After a while, we came across an opening. I was in awe at the sight in front of me. A large pond, with lilypads floating on the surface, swans, and ducks gliding through the water. Nearby, was a lonely willow tree, lightly flowing in the wind. Without a word, he took me to the base of the willow tree, and we sat down. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" He said, and I smiled. It really was beautiful.
The time passed, just us laying beneath the tree, talking about random things. We got along quite well, and there wasn't a dull moment. The chatter soon stopped and we fell into a comfortable silence. The sun was high in the air; it was pleasantly warm. I felt myself drift in and out of sleep. I tried my best to stay awake, I didn't want to be rude, yet I couldn't help how cozy it was. I dozed off, content.
I woke up slowly, feeling something touching my cheek. I opened my eyes and turned to the source, to see Sebastian caressing my cheek. "Hello again, sleepyhead," He said, smiling at me adoringly. I immediately sit up, confused at the situation. Why was he touching my cheek, and how long was he looking at me? He grinned and got up from his spot. "Sorry Y/N, I didn't mean to startle you, you just looked so cute." I blushed, but I felt a bit unnerved. I shook off the feeling, besides, he was my friend, friends are usually pretty comfortable with each other. I got up, with Sebastian's help, and we began to walk back to where we came from.
As we walked, he began to chat with me, first about simple things, but eventually came to more serious topics. I talked to him about my old friend, how she left me because she found me annoying and clingy. "I'd never find you annoying or clingy, you know that right?" He questioned, and I beamed. I'm so glad to finally have a friend, after all this time. We kept on walking, but right before we reached the end of the woods, he stopped. "Can I tell you something?" He asked. I said sure, he can tell me anything. He sighed, before hugging me. "My mum, she passed away a while ago. Ever since then, my dad had to raise me. He wasn't too happy about that. He can be a bit of an asshole, so I apologize." He then continued to walk, like nothing happened, like he didn't just tell me about a traumatizing part of his life. I ran up next to him and grabbed his hand. He turned to look at me, and I hugged Sebastian. "I don't know how to comfort you, but I'm here for you," I said. I looked at him and saw he was tearing up. He hugged me back, hard, and didn't let go for a good few moments. I began to worry, but then he let go and smiled. "You're the best person to come into my life, Y/N."
We heard a distant car honk, and Sebastian quickly wiped his tears. "It's my father, we need to hurry. He doesn't like it when I'm late," Sebastian said. "Or crying." He added. We jogged along the path until we came across the car, and we got in. The drive was quicker than expected, and soon the rolling hills changed into a city scene yet again. The magnificent building of our school was finally in view, and we stopped right around the corner. Sebastian's father drove away without so much as a goodbye. We climbed over a nearby fence and went back to class. I asked Sebastian what the time was, and he quickly checked his phone. "Around 2 pm. Just after lunch". I mentally slapped myself as I remembered Lucian. I was supposed to meet him at lunch! I gave Sebastian a quick thank you for the time and left, hopefully to find Lucian.
