After explaining the basic rules to her students, Ms. Chabashira, our homeroom teacher, turned on the large monitor, which at first glance could easily be mistaken for a blackboard. The said monitor instantly lit up and showed a slide labeled 'S-system,' which earned several confused looks from her students.

"I know you all have a ton of questions right now. I'll answer all of them, but first, let me finish my explanation," Sensei stated calmly, stopping her students before they could even form sentences.

"The S-system, which I believe some of you might have already guessed, is a unique system that this school operates on. This system will also play a vital part in your three years here at this high school." She picked up a pen of some sort and started writing on the monitor.

"Each year, the freshman classes are given a thousand class points at the start of the school year. These points are then converted into private points, which are distributed to each student based on the number of c.p. that specific class possesses at that time period. Also, note that 1 p.point is equal to 1 yen, and similarly, 1 c.point = 100 p.points. These p.points are used similarly to money here and can be used to buy anything here on the campus."

Interesting. If everything works just like Sensei said, then we're getting around a hundred thousand p.points just for this month, which is, of course, a lot for a high schooler. Even if this school is run by the government, that is a sizable amount of money they are giving out.

After finishing writing the important details, Sensei turned back and placed both her hands on the podium. "And yes, if you haven't caught on to it yet, c.points can be decreased, but they can also be increased. If a class does well in certain aspects, they might be awarded enough class points to overtake their rival classes."

"Sensei!" A boy with dirty blonde hair raised his hand. "You mentioned that c.points can be decreased, right? Can you tell us what exactly students do that causes class points to decrease?"

Smart. He was basically asking Sensei to reveal the criteria this school uses while evaluating its students,

"Sorry, Hirata, but we don't feel like hand-feeding you every little piece of information."

'You are enrolled in an elite school, you should be capable of figuring that much out,' is what she's implying.

"Dude, she's basically telling us to fuck around and find out," a boy with brown hair whispered.

Well, that's another way to look at it, I guess...

After bombarding us with all that information, she finally gave us a few moments to let it all sink in. But that short break didn't last long as she picked up her tablet, and instantly the screen was switched once again. This time it showed all of the freshman classes having 800 of said c.p., which was, of course, less than what she previously mentioned.

"These are your current class points."

"But Sensei, didn't you say we'll get around 1000 class points?" A girl with short bing-colored hair asked the obvious.

"Yeah, we're 200 points short," someone else added.

"That is correct, but that was the case for last year. This year the school decided to test something new out. We usually don't explain the S-system on the first day like we did today; instead, we give the students a month of time to figure all this out on their own. But this year, instead of doing the usual, the school decided to provide most of the information you need about the S-system in exchange for 200 c.points. Be grateful for the school's decision, as I'm pretty sure your class would've burnt through all of them if we didn't have hand-fed you all this information." She stopped and coldly gazed around the classroom until her eyes landed on me for a brief moment. "And I doubt any of you would've figured it out anyway."
