Naruto awoke to screaming, jumping up with his sword at the ready, expecting it to be enemy shinobi, Naruto was shocked to see Sakura running around screaming with a raccoon on her head holding on for dear life. Reading the room, and knowing that it wasn't funny to Sakura, Naruto couldn't keep himself from laughing. Clutching his stomach, he laughed uncontrollably, before falling on his back laughing even harder.

Standing up a few minutes later, still chuckling a little, Naruto walked up to Sakura's flailing form and detached the wild rodent from the top of her head.

"Well, that was funny, thanks for that much-needed laugh Sakura." Naruto patted the girl's head still chuckling slightly.

"Well, now that we're all up, let's gather our things, I'd like to enter the Waves by nightfall. Naruto, why don't you check the perimeter?" Naruto nodded to his sensei and disappeared in a flicker.

By the time Naruto returned, the rest were all packed up. Spotting his return, Kakashi addressed him.

"Perfect timing. Okay, we're all here and packed up. Let's get going."

After a couple of hours of silent walking, the group came to a stop at a dock.

"Can you take us across?" Tazuna asked the man.

"You'll have to be really quiet when we pass over the water." The man replied.

"How long will the ride take?" Kakashi asked the boatman.

"About 4 to 5 hours."

"Sensei, I don't think I can sit still that long. If it's all the same, I'd rather walk the way alongside the boat." Naruto muttered to the Jounin.

"You can keep it up for that long?"

"Shisui had me walk for two days on a river, I can go much longer nowadays."

"Very well. Come on my precious little Genins, get on the boat, this nice man will take us across." Everyone except Naruto climbed aboard the boat. Naruto stepped onto the water, and much to the shock of everyone but Kakashi, he didn't sink.

"Naruto, stop showing off!" Sakura scolded.

"It's just a chakra control exercise. Every shinobi can do it" Naruto responded as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Naruto, as you usually skipped classes you wouldn't know, they don't teach chakra control exercises of that scale in the academy," Kakashi informed.

"I'm starting to see why the Hokage was reluctant to give us a C-rank. Genin's are supposed to be pathetically weak. I guess it's up to you to make sure we're strong enough to survive the ninja world, Sensei."

"Well, as long as he can keep that up, I guess he doesn't need a seat. Shall we get going?" The boatman asked.

"Yes, let's go," Kakashi confirmed.

As the boat slowly rowed across the river, Kakashi interrogated Tazuna and found out that a businessman by the name of Gato, has hired rogue nins to assassinate him, to prevent him from finishing his bridge.

"You lied to us, we're no longer obligated to escort you any further. Once we dock, you are on your own. My team isn't ready for a mission like this."

"But Kakashi-sensei, Naruto took care of the enemies. What's the problem?"

"Well, you see Sakura. If the Demon brothers were the only enemies on this mission, even if the other shinobi we encounter are on their level, I would allow the mission to continue. But if this is an A-rank, then that means that the next enemy we'll face is going to be Jounin."
