Murder Monkeys

{Third person POV}

Doug awoke in a ballroom and saw a woke there and a huge door behind her, "W-who are you..?" He asked, "I'm Helen Bierce love, let me take a look at you mh... I thought that you'll be bigger." She said, "H- huh...?" Doug replied confused, "So many hopes.. so many desires.. such good intentions go to waste.." Bierce continued, "If you want a new start at life, you need to suffer for a little bit more longer.." She said, "O- Okay.. how can I get a new life..?" He asked, "You need to collect ring pieces to start a new life." Bierce said, he saw ten portals rise up.

Then one of them light up and showed a monkey on it, Doug entered through it and he saw that he entered a dark hallway, he walked down it and he entered a hotel, "What a charming little hotel.. bring back any memories?" Bierce asked,  Doug did feel that he knew this hotel... or something similar to this hotel before, he shrugged it off and walked down the hallway.

Doug saw a Monkey cardboard cutout in the corner, it fell down, he turned the other hallway and walked down it until Doug saw something near the elevator, it was a giant monkey, the monkey saw him and ran inside the elevator and it went up. Doug went up to the elevator and it opened up, he entered inside and it closed.

It went up for about an hour then it opened up, Doug exited out and saw a statue that looked similar to the statue in Bierce's ballroom, he saw purple floating crystals in the hallway, "Doug.. you see those purple shards..? Those are soul shards.. fragments of the human soul who lost their life here." Bierce said, "Ah..!" Doug muttered, "Gather all the soul shards and the first ring piece will be yours. One more thing, you're not alone. There are monsters in here and they're looking for you." Bierce said as Doug broke down the cardboard, "Oh you would also need this.. it was left by the last guest to disappoint me.. such a clever girl. Just not a very fast runner." Bierce said giving Doug a tablet.

Doug started to gather up the soul shards, shortly a bit he heard monkey sounds behind him, them screeching behind him, Doug made a few sharp turns as he then saw a orange floating ball, he ran into it and he heard a faint noise, he turned behind him to see the monkey stunned. Doug ran away and made more sharp turns, he saw a red ball now and he ran into it, he checked the tablet and saw two red squares.

He heard monkey noises coming by, 'I guess that shows me where the creatures are..' he thought then he ran off again, a few short minutes later he collected all the soul shards, "You've gathered all of the soul shards. The ring piece is now exposed and the monsters will go into a frenzy once you get it." Bierce said, Doug checked the tablet and saw a glowing figure he went towards it.

He collected it, "Hrghh...who dares?!" Doug heard an unfamiliar voice, "Shoot! He knows your here now. You need to escape! Get to the portal! Hurry!" Bierce yelled, Doug ran back inside the elevator and he saw the door break down. The elevator went down then it opened, Doug stepped outside and heard the screeching of monkeys, he bolted towards the hallway, he took a sharp turn, "There's no escape for you mortal!" The unknown voice said again, he jumped through the portal back into Bierce's ballroom.

Doug was confused on who was that guy, "Good! I'm glad you're back... and you met my friend.. sooner then what I was expecting.." Bierce said, the large door there then a eyeball appeared, "Bierce! Still so persistent after all this time. Do not listen to her mortal, she's just using you. Give her the ring and there will be consequences. This is your only warning. Help her and you will suffer!" The eyeball said, "Pay no attention to him. His powers cannot reach you here. The ring piece, place it at the alter, now." Bierce said, Doug gave Bierce the ring piece.

Doug was curious about the ring, "What is the ring do and what is it called?" He asked, "The ring is called the riddle of heaven. An ironic name, don't you think? A demon's power is contained inside it. The creature is infinite cruelty that you just met.. is named Malak." Bierce said, "Complete the ring and you can use Malak's power to fullfill your darkest desires... or so the legend goes." Bierce continued, Doug's eye widen and he hopes this is true so he could get his life back together, "Eight more to go.. are you ready for another nightmare?" Bierce asked, Doug felt ready, another portal opened up.

It showed a little creepy girl there, Doug took a deep breath and stepped through the portal that has a little girl on it.
