"Veronica! I need you to write me a letter with Miss Fleming's handwriting", Duke demanded. "Mhmm, what do you want it to say?" Veronica questioned. Duke sighed and pulled out a folded-up note and handed it to Veronica. Sawyer unfolded the crumpled-up note, it read exactly what Heather wanted the note to say. "Dear, Miss and Mr. Duke. Heather Duke's grades have been dropping due to your current divorce. It is asked of you not to divorce for Heather Duke's sake and future. Sincerely, Miss Fleming". After Veronica finished reading it, she looked up at Heather Duke who quickly looked away. Was this what the phone call was about? Were Heather Duke's parents divorcing? "So are you gonna write it or not?", Duke asked, breaking the tension between her and Veronica. "Yea but Heather...". "Good!", Duke cut off Veronica mid-sentence. Sawyer sighed and quickly wrote down exactly what the note said. She folded it up and handed it to Heather. The awkward silence was quickly broken by the loud bell ringing. Duke quickly walked out of the cafeteria, then followed Chandler, which left McNamara and Veronica alone. "Hey, Veronica?", McNamara asked softly. "Yea?", Veronica responded. Heather seemed to pause for a bit before speaking again, "Can I talk to you after class?", Heather asked Veronica. Sawyer agreed and then left to get to her next class. Although she couldn't focus at all during class. She wanted to know what was going on with Duke and what McNamara wanted to ask her. The second the bell rang, Veronica stood up and began to gather her belongings. Suddenly, a tall male walked up to her. He had curly brown hair and a long black trenchcoat. "Greetings to salutations!", he spoke. "Do I know you?", Veronica asked. "I suppose I shall tell you, the name is Jason Dean, J.D. for short". Now that it came to mind, Veronica had seen J.D. around a couple of times. He was usually hanging out in the corner of the cafeteria or reading a book in the hallways. "Wait- Dean? Like Big Bud Dean Construction?", Veronica asked barely making the connection. "In all his glory, he seems to enjoy blowing up things or tearing things down", J.D. responded. Veronica and Jason talked for a bit before Veronica remembered Heather McNamara wanted to talk to her but..she didn't want to stop talking to Jason. He was funny and sarcastic. Sawyer decided to just give him her digits so they could talk later. After that was done, Veronica ran out of the classroom and looked around for McNamara. Veronica finally looked in the bathroom to see McNamara pacing around waiting for her. Heather spotted Veronica and walked over to her, relieved. "I thought you wouldn't come!", McNamara said. "Yea..I just didn't know where to go", Veronica said through heavy huffs. It was half true. She didn't know where to go, but the main reason was because of J.D. but Veronica was too embarrassed to admit it. "Why'd you want to talk to me anyway?" Sawyer asked, now curious. "Uhmm...", Heather nervously fiddled with her fingers. "It's about Heather Duke, I'm really worried about her". Veronica suddenly had an idea about what this conversation was about. Instead of saying anything, she waited for McNamara to continue. "She told me her parents are going through a divorce right now and I think it's damaging her and..she told me not to tell anyone but I felt like I needed to tell you, Veronica". Sawyer paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts before speaking.
