Jace looked at me for a minute and then moved his hand away from mine. He blushed too. "Yum. Brownies." He smiled.
"Haha yeah." I scratched my chin and looked down. "Am I being awkward?"
"A little." Jace blushed and he looked like a tomato. "But you're hot so it's ok." Jace smiled and took a bite of his brownie.
My eyes widened and I forced a smile. Was Jace flirting with me? I was new to this and everything felt weird. Like my world had been flipped upside down. "T-thanks." Was all I said.
"Cas are you ok?" Jace cocked his head. His puppy dog blue eyes were so beautiful. I admired them for what seemed like hours. "Jeez. Hello?" Jace waved his hands in front of my face.
"Yup!" I blinked quickly and sat up straight. "Yup, yeah, yeah I'm fine."
"Ok." He smirked.
I looked down. All the pain, all the memories came back.
"You're obviously not ok." Jace's eyebrows curved, and with his eyes, his face looked so sad and compassionate.
"It's just that...." I held my head in my hands.
"You can tell me." He put his hands on mine.
"No one ever called me Cas other than my brother. He... He's gone."
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to." Jace looked at me.
"No." I stopped him. "It's fine. It's comforting" I smiled slightly.
"Why don't we take your mind off things and go to a movie."
Was he asking me out on a date? Did I want to go on a date with him. Blood rushed through my veins. "Ok. Sure." I smiled.
Jace held the door for me and when we walked outside he put his arm around my shoulder. He was much taller than me. We walked downtown to the movie theater and got settled in. We decided to watch a comedy and we laughed through out most of the movie.
"Want me to drive you home?" Jace took a sip of his soda.
"Sure." I smiled. "I did walk here." I chuckled.
We got in Jace's car, of course I was familiar with it. "I had a great time. I laced my head down on the head rest.
"Me too." Jace smiled and we drove to my apartment complex.
Jace and I walked quietly to my door. None of us spoke, and the tension was rising. "I guess this is it." I sighed.
Jace only looked at me for a couple seconds, then leaned in for a kiss. I didn't pull away, I loved it. It was warm, and friendly, and it had never felt more real. But, I pulled away after 15 seconds.
"I'm sorry." Jace looked away.
"L-look, I know I led you on, and I'm really sorry. I just don't know how I am anymore. Ever since I met you I've felt changed. I don't know if I'm...."
"Gay?" Jace looked at me sadly.
"I'm sorry." I hugged him and sobbed. "I don't know who I am."
"I'll give you some time to find yourself." Jace whispered and kissed me on the head.
He left and I locked the door to my apartment. I felt hollow.
