Mikasa lugged her carry-on through security and finally, finally boarded the plane headed back home. The semester abroad in Tokyo had been fantastic but she was excited to see Eren and Armin again. They had video chatted regularly, but she had still missed them dearly.
After lifting her suitcase easily into the compartment she plopped down in the window seat before pulling out her phone and ear buds.
She smiled when she saw Eren had texted her that they would pick her up from the airport. She smiled and closed her eyes contentedly as her favorite band played from her phone. She had just gotten comfortable when she was disturbed by some very colorful cussing next to her. She opened her eyes to see a fairly short man shoving his luggage onto the overhead rack. She smirked at seeing him stand on his tiptoes to complete the task. He glared at her suddenly, "What are you looking at, brat?" Mikasa's eyes widened slightly. Brat? How rude! Who did this midget think he was? And it was galling to admit that she had been thinking he was attractive. Jet black hair, styled in an undercut and piercing gray eyes. She shot him a glare before leaning back in her seat and closing her eyes.

Levi stared incredulously at the gorgeous girl sitting next to him on the plane. Beautiful, dark locks and dark eyes that cut like knives. Her creamy skin contrasted with her striking red scarf. Her head was back, face peaceful as she listened to music. Tch, even if she is gorgeous, she shouldn't make fun of my height.
Levi sprawled back in his seat before sneaking another glance at the girl beside him. Damn it all, I'm bored. Deciding he might as well be entertained, he poked the girl's shoulder. Her eyes snapped open and she removed one ear bud before hissing at him irritably, "What?" Levi suppressed a smirk,"Your music is too loud." She glared at him. "Oh yeah, if it was so loud what was I listening to?" Damn it, she called my bluff. Levi decided to hazard a guess, what kind of shitty music did young people listen to these days? "Taylor Swift," he guessed. She stared at him for a full five seconds with her mouth hanging slightly open. "You've got to be kidding me. I listen to real music," she said. Levi raised an eyebrow, "Oh yeah, what's real music then?" She narrowed her eyes at him, before reeling off a list of band names he'd never heard of. "Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant, Banks, Starset, The Cab, Mariana's Trench..." The list went on and on.(Sorry, modern day headcanon that Mikasa wouldn't be mainstream)
Levi was blown out of the water, but he couldn't help but feel pleased with himself. He was sitting on a long flight, having a conversation with the most gorgeous girl he had ever seen. She was about to put the ear bud back in, and he panicked slightly, "Wait," he said. She raised an eyebrow and he felt slightly self conscious, "Let me hear some real music." He could tell by her expression that she was slightly impressed against her will, but she handed over the ear bud nevertheless. He closed his eyes as sounds filtered through his ear.
Do I wanna know? If this feeling floats both ways? I'd have to see you go, sorta hoping that'd you'd stay...

After admitting that he liked the song, the young woman warmed up to him a bit. He learned that her name was Mikasa and she had just been studying in Tokyo. He in turn told her his name was Levi he had been traveling for work, doing business for his company The Wings of Freedom.
He realized that hours had gone by while he was lost in conversation with this beauty, noticing the nuances in her facial features and speech. She was a marketing major and he remembered that his boss Erwin had told him that they needed a new marketing manager.
After Mikasa had fallen asleep on the plane, Levi texted Erwin, asking about the position.
Erwin: haha, sounds like you like this girl, Levi.
Levi: tch, I just think she would do a good job, she's smart, not like those other idiots we interviewed for the spot.
Erwin: OK, OK, Levi, I trust your judgment. I'll give her an interview if she agrees.
Levi: thanks, Erwin.
Levi closed his eyes to try to snatch a few winks of sleep, the last image he saw was Mikasa's peaceful dreaming face before he slipped into slumber.
Levi woke up groggily at the light shining through the airplane window. He saw Mikasa still sleeping next to him, her pretty lashes curved against her pale skin. He tapped her lightly on the shoulder, and she blinked awake sleepily. "Hey," he said softly. "Morning " she yawned in reply. Levi was slightly nervous but decided to jump down the rabbit hole anyway, "My company is looking for a marketing manger and my boss said he'd give you an interview." Her eyes widened, fully awake now, "Wow, seriously? That's amazing, your boss must really like you." Levi snorted, "We're just old friends, are you in?" "Yeah, I'm in, this is fantastic," she exclaimed.
Levi felt a surge of pride for being the one to cause a sparkle in her eye. Levi couldn't help but wonder if she was single. He was most disappointed when the pilot came on over the intercom, "Please buckle your seat belts, we will begin to land in five minutes."
When the plane landed they both stepped off the plane and Mikasa stopped and said to him, "It was nice meeting you, Levi," Levi blinked, but quickly replied, "Yeah, you too." He handed her his business card and watched her slim figure walk away. He watched as she was engulfed by two young men, a blonde and a brunette, both talking excitedly. We'll see each other again, Mikasa.
