-Update-
Oh hey, I just realized-
Last chapter, I said I wouldn't be lazy
...
I lied. •w•))The door creaked, slowly. He saw his father's large, rough hand reach around the edge of the door, but knew it wasn't real. His eyes were still shut, still locked in that oblivion that enveloped him in his sleep. He had felt such dread and fear the past few days, but, with Mike, he was getting over it. Jeremy was 'on the road to recovery', like on the commercials, though not so corny. A sharp sound suddenly cut the air before he realized Mike was standing in front of him, snapping his fingers in a Z-formation in the doorway.
"Hey sleepyhead, you're not thinking about that stuff again, are you?" He winked caringly, causing Jeremy to fill with what felt like sunshine.
"No, I was just... G-getting ready for work! Yeah, that's it... Work..." The distracted man stammered nervously, brushing his left hand through his hair. He always had a naturally curly-haired bedhead in the morning... At least, he thought it was morning...It couldn't have been, Mike never gets up before noon... Well, he doesn't leave his room until noon. 'Maybe because he's not a breakfast person...' Jeremy thought. He looked at the wall clock Mike bought him for his spare room, reading 8:29am. He could tell he had a very puzzled look on his face, because he was, and it seemed like Mike knew what he was thinking.
"I know, I know. 'He's never up this early?' Blah blah blah. Today is an important day, kid. Do ya know why?" Mike asked.
"Of c-course I don't, Mike. Why?" He never knew why anything was anything anymore, much of the last few years of his life had become just a painful blur.
"Because, you're running out of clothes, and I'm not sharing my sort of tidy-whities with you."
"Eww..." Mike gave a very sassy 'Pfft' when Jere complained, then continued explaining.
"We're getting all your stuff back from that jack-" He paused, most likely because of his friend's sensitivity to swears. "er...Butt, and to do that, we're breaking in. Unless you still have your house keys, that method would be preferable." Jeremy's mouth dropped open, utter confusion cluttered his thoughts. He could barely comprehend his thoughts about it. Unbelievable. Impossible. We couldn't. We just couldn't... Could we?
"Wait...W-What?!" That's all he could get out, leaving Mike looking concerned.
"Do you have your house keys? I didn't think it was that hard to understand."
M-Mike! What are you t-thinking?! What if he's there? We w-wouldn't stand a chance e-either way! Jeremy was mentally screaming , though he could barely utter a sound in reality. Disturbing him even more, he could tell Mike was completely calm.
"I've been watching his daily routine each morning for the past week. Idiot just leaves at 9:30 every morning, and doesn't come back until 11:30. Mostly to the local pub or liquor store, I could only guess from the 6-packs of beers and receipts hanging out of his pockets every time he comes back." Mike had a face of disgust as he explained. "I would just drive back here when I was done and in through the back at 11:55 on the dot. All I had to do was climb in my window so you wouldn't notice." He looked like he was feeling proud, accomplished even.
"Mike... T-that's both creepy and nearly illegal!" Jeremy gasped in horror, freaked out by how someone in their right mind could do such a thing... If he's even in his right mind...
"That's why we need your house keys! Now come on, get dressed! We're running out of time!" He grabbed the other's wrist and pulled him from his bed, despite the younger man's rather pathetic resistance, leaving Jeremy wishing to escape this nightmare he was forced to be a part of.
What did Mike just drag Jerebear into? Find out next chapter!!! =w=
